NYANZA LAKE: Yesterday at the inaugural Lake Victoria Day celebrations our team was representing at both the exhibition/public showcase grounds and the high level stakeholders round table engagements at Malaika beach Mwanza, Tanzania.

Key take away from the first day of the stakeholders engagements that saw our Founder/Director make amazing contribution thru' green innovation and cultural discourse were:-

-Nurturing community ownership of our lake for sustainability and protection of our natural water ways. The question of identity and Decolonization took a centre stage due to enforcement challanges along with re-living our traditional conservatory cultures to promote deep connection with our natural environment/nature.

-Need for regional sound waste management systems and laws in the basin countries to curb pollution and overfishing.

- Implememting best practices in urban planning, water security/sanitation and sustainable land use to protect the green cover around the lake, wet lands, upstream water channels and protection of biodiversity.

On the other hand the exhibition groups came alive to Bujora snake dancers, innovation/recycling demos, showcase of fisheries products and water services, lake safety measures for safeguarding lives of Fisher folks and food preservation knowledge sharing.

studio/hub waste-to-art display & the hub was present and led by our gorgeous Hub Manager and supported by our Mwanza communication volunteers.

We thank our partners and followers for their continuous support towards our journey to achieve from the UK and

This is a journey of awakening the people to love, cellebrate and protect the greatest lake in the continent through community led interventions and meaningful collaborations for a thriving lake economy currently facing multiple threats from all directions.

Taking the lake conservation stories of Innovation and resilience to Mwanza...Nane Nane Grounds.

From the shores of Lake Victoria to communities across the continent, we join the inaugural Lake Victoria Day celebrations in Mwanza to stand for and a living lake, a shared future, and the voices of the people who call these waters home. Our water goddess known as Nalubaale in Baganda is slowly dying.

Through the Global Lakes Solidarity Campaign, dialogue, innovation and green lakeside events we rise in solidarity for justice, protection, and collective stewardship of our lakes — not only as ecosystems, but as sources of identity, dignity, memory, and continental connection.

Lake Victoria is more than water. It is culture. Livelihood. Movement. A symbol of African unity that deserves restoration, vibrancy, and care for generations to come. Its time to give back the heritage its true identity for local ownership.

Together, we champion shared waters, shared responsibility, and shared futures. 🌍💙

Our team recently visited South East Alego Ward- Siaya County to engage Member of County Assembly, Hon. Scholastica Masidis Owoko to explore a shared vision for extending our circular innovation hub beyond Kisumu through proposed rural innovation hub with a pilot focus on glass and textile recycling set to begin in 2026.

As part of this collaboration, we entrusted the MCA’s office with a sewing machine laying the groundwork for a series of capacity-building workshops and circular skills trainings.

As we step into the new year, we are excited to see this journey unfold.
