Herbs Are Not Always Safe

I know this may come as a surprise to many of you - but we need to talk about this before things get out of hand.

7 Things You Need To Know about herbal concoctions

1. Natural does not mean harmless
Plants contain active compounds that have real physiological effects on your body.

Effect means it can heal and it can harm. The source, dose, and preparation all matter enormously.

1. Herbs can interact dangerously with prescription medication

Many herbs interfere with how your liver processes drugs causing medications to either accumulate to toxic levels or clear your body too fast to work.

Eg if you've high pressure medication, hibiscus tea can make your blood pressure go too low (hypotension)

1. Unregulated doses are a serious problem.

Pharmaceutical drugs are measured to the milligram.

Most herbal concoctions are not. Nobody is accountable for what is in them, how much, or how it was prepared.

1. Your liver and kidneys have a limit.

Every substance you ingest drug or herb is processed by your organs.

Multiple herbs, supplements, and medications taken simultaneously overload your filtration system.

Organ damage from this is quiet until it is serious.

1. Herbs can mask symptoms without addressing the cause

Suppressing a symptom is not healing.

If the root cause, food, lifestyle, environment, remains unchanged, the body continues to deteriorate beneath the temporary relief.

1. Some herb-related organ damage is irreversible.

Kidney failure, liver damage, and severe gut irritation linked to unregulated herbal use are not always recoverable.

The consequences can be permanent.

1. The most powerful medicine is still the most boring answer.
Real food. Quality sleep. Consistent movement. Stress management.

These have no dangerous interactions, no hidden ingredients, and a track record as old as humanity itself.

Address the root cause everything else is a shortcut that often costs more than it gives.

PS. Drugs can be lifesaving especially after messing your health and so are herbs but wise use and more importantly addressing the root cause is the most important thing.

Again prevention remains the best approach.
