Day 1 of the Breast cancer screening camp at Pandya Memorial Hospital, Mombasa..
These 3 women right here, are Breast Cancer SURVIVORS!! ✊🏼✊🏼
‼️They have survived for over 15 years alhamdulillah‼️.they are members of the Breast Cancer Survivors group and i could not be more proud of them 😍😍This for me was absolutely the highlight of today! Meeting these incredible women who fought bravely and WON THE BATTLE! Seeing them is a reminder of why i do what i do 🥰 why i will never stop advocating for breast cancer screening and early detection!! Because BREAST CANCER IS NOT A DEATH SENTENCE‼️

Its that time of the year! The time to raise awareness about breast cancer 🎀 ..time to celebrate the survivors and remember those who lost their fight against the disease...
Let us all come together this month to improve our early detection rate! For early detection = improved survival...
Throughout the month, i will be giving health talks and conducting screenings..
Look out for those talks, and go for the screening..
Many hospitals will be offering subsidised screening mammography as well as ultrasounds, take advantage of this opportunity!

A patient appreciating your work, is a feeling like no other! Many patients don't know how much gratitude means to us 💕 I thank God for the opportunity to serve and make someones life a bit better! It is an honour and a privilege to be able to do so. ALHAMDULILLAH ❤

Words of wisdom from my friend Dr. Aruyaru

I'm sure you all know what bowel is, but may not know what peritoneum is..
So PERITONEUM is what lines the abdomen (tummy) from the inside. Sometimes it can get inflammed and infected, what we call PERITONITIS. This is a nasty condition that we deal with quite often! The solution to it is surgery most of the time, where we may find the bowel stuck together and/or to the abdominal wall on the inside due to what we call ADHESIONS (adhesions are fibrous bands that causethe gut to stick to one another). when performing that surgery, we must take great care when "entering" the abdomen as we wouldn't want to cause more damage by injuring the bowel and spilling its content into an already "messed up" space!! Hence the wise words 👆👆👆👆
(Adhesions may also develop in someone who has had a previous surgery, and if those adhesions block bowel movement, the patient comes to us with what we call INTESTINAL OBSTRUCTION that may need surgery to release the bands)

Been waiting to read this book since its launch! I am super excited about it..
Its a book written by Khadija Abdalla Bajaber, a novelist from my hometown of Mombasa! She is also the first winner of the Graywolf Press Africa Prize, awarded for a first novel manuscript by an African author!! I mean, if thats not inspiring, i dont know what is!!

Im about to start reading it..will let you all know how it is😍

Yesterday was day 2 of a training on breast cancer management that we organised for coast healthcare workers!
We aim to improve the quality of care provided to breast cancer patients in the region...
My dream is to improve the care and outcomes, one BREAST at a time 😃..InshaAllah..
