Standing Tall for Health Rights in Mombasa

Today, WACHA CBO proudly joined the Mombasa County Technical Working Group (TWG) for Quarter One. The meeting, led by the County Director of Health Services, reaffirmed a powerful truth: integration of health services and prioritization of Key Populations is not just policy—it is a constitutional right.

Every individual deserves the highest attainable standard of health in all public facilities, free from stigma and discrimination.

Despite the challenges of funding cuts, WACHA CBO remains resilient, unwavering, and committed to promoting service delivery in strong partnership with Mombasa County. Together, we continue to champion dignity, equity, and access for all.

Ending TB with Dignity and Inclusion
As we celebrate world TB Day at WACHA CBO amplifying the voices of those have been impacted by TB disease and they say .....
I stopped TB treatment because the clinic environment wasn’t accommodating for young women. This should never be the reality for anyone.
Every youth friendly clinic must integrate TB interventions—ensuring dignity, inclusion, and access for all.
Young people and key populations affected by TB deserve care that respects their voices, their needs, and their rights.
Together, we can build spaces where treatment is not just available, but welcoming and empowering.
Let’s make TB services truly inclusive.

World AIDS Day 2025
Theme: “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response”

“This World AIDS Day, we remember, we support, and we act.”
Every year, our calendars are filled with special observances, but only a few truly make us pause and reflect. On December 1, the world comes together to commemorate World AIDS Day—a day of remembrance, respect, and solidarity. It is a time to honor the millions of lives touched by HIV and to stand with those living with the virus today.
True strength lies in compassion and continued service delivery. Disruptions cannot silence us. We have learned lessons, taken stock of our progress, and transformed challenges into opportunities to build stronger HIV programs. Our collective vision is clear: to sustain the gains and achieve the reality of ending HIV infections by 2030.
At Watu Center for Health and Advocacy (WACHA CBO), our urgent call is to end new HIV infections, teenage pregnancies, and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). Male involvement is central to this mission, as engaging men and boys in preventing violence against women is gaining momentum worldwide. This approach strengthens gender equality and advances primary prevention.
Our inclusion agenda stands tall. We envision a world where no one walks alone. By strengthening inclusive governance, addressing inequalities, supporting key populations, and empowering community-led organizations, we can build resilient and sustainable health systems. Governments must partner with communities, enact supportive laws, and create enabling environments that connect thousands to confidential information, self-testing, and care.
This year’s theme “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response”—calls for sustained political leadership, international cooperation, and human-rights-centered approaches. Together, through co-creation with communities, we can transform disruption into resilience.
We at WACHA CBO envision a 2030 with zero new HIV infections.
