Every year on June 1st, Kenyans across the globe unite to celebrate Madaraka Day, one of the most significant pillars of our national heritage. But what exactly are we celebrating, and why does it matter to us today?
The word Madaraka is Swahili for "power" or "authority." This day commemorates June 1st, 1963, when Kenya officially attained internal self-rule from British colonial governance.
While full independence was achieved a few months later on Jamhuri Day (December 12, 1963), Madaraka Day marks the precise moment Kenyans took the reins of their own government, led by our first Prime Minister, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta. It was the birth of our self-determination.
Just as Madaraka Day stands for empowerment and progress, we remain committed to empowering your business/growth through our services. We wish all our clients, partners, and friends a peaceful and joyful Madaraka Day!
