A fews minutes before the presidents presser, I noticed panic shopping near where i stay. People were expecting the worst, a declaration of a total lockdown. This turned out to be a 7pm to 5am curfew beginning today. Don't expect any total lockdown down announcement soon.

1. Kenyans economy will collapse in face o a total lockdown, already thousands are out of work or on unpaid leave in the hotel, entertainment, airline, the legal fraternity, road transport , shipping among others.

2. Thousands are experiencing depressed business returns as kenyans hold onto the little cash they have.

3. The government doesn't have enough resources to initiate a total lockdown and still fight the disease, offer nutrition support to its citizens majority of whom live on a daily wage and thus still needs your taxes to cushion itself, pay debts and other recurrent expenditures

4. Most of the decision markers have a vested interest in the NSE listed companies hence a total lockdown means share prices tumble further to a 30 year low, wipping out wealth accumulated over many years.

5. Further depreciation of the Kenyan shilling against the dolar in the event of a total lockdown means imports become extremely expensive, pushing the cost to the consumer, starting with medicines and other healthcare products.

Therefore to limit the spread of COVID-19, and at the same time save our economy;

1. If you have nothing to do in town PLEASE STAY AT HOME AND WASH YOUR HANDS

2. If you have to move OR go to town, keep social distancing recommendations, sanitaze and wash your hands (AND THOSE PEOPLE WALKING AROUND WEARING GLOVES , CAN YOU STOP THIS, YOU ARE GIVING YOURSELFS A FALSE HOPE AND ARE CONTAMINATING EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE, JUST SANITIZE, WASH HANDS THAT'S ENOUGH)

3. If you have symptom similar to those of COVID-19, dry cough, fever, difficulty in breathing, flu like symptoms, PLEASE CALL YOUR HEALTH CARE PROVIDER OR THE DESIGNATED MOH NUMBERS, DON'T JUST WALK INTO THE HEALTH CARE FACILITY, WE NEED TO PROTECT OUR MEDICS FROM EXPOSURE BY ENSURING THAT THEY HAVE THE RIGHT PROTECTIVE GEAR WHEN ATTENDING TO YOU. 1 IN 10 HEALTH CARE WORKERS AROUND THE WORLD ARE VICTIMS OF COVID-19. The disease burden will be too much to bear if we start loosing them.

DISCLAIMER; these are my personal opinions and advice; for more compehenive and official information, refer to GOK, MOH GUIDELINES ON COVID-19
