"It’s like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die." 🍷🚫
​We’ve all heard that saying, but in recovery, it’s more than just a quote—it’s a warning. Holding onto resentment is heavy. It’s exhausting. And honestly? It’s the fastest way to find yourself back at square one.
​Why it’s so risky:
When we’re bitter, we’re stressed. When we’re stressed, we want to numb out. Resentment keeps us stuck in a "victim" loop, replaying old hurts until we convince ourselves we deserve to use just to get some relief.
​Where it usually hides:
​Being mad that things aren't moving faster.
​Frustration with family who don't trust us yet.
​The heavy "self-hate" for things we did in the past.
​The Truth: Keeping that anger doesn't hurt the people who wronged you—it only steals your peace and threatens your hard-earned sobriety.
