Happy Madaraka Day 2026 to all Kenyans, both at home and across the globe.
As we commemorate our nation's attainment of self-governance and celebrate the freedom to shape our own destiny, we are reminded that true independence also calls for intellectual, cultural, and scientific growth.
As a community of young mental health practitioners, we look forward to a future where we not only practice and advance mental health care, but also contribute meaningfully to the development of African Psychology through research, innovation, and investment. A future where African experiences, cultures, values, and indigenous knowledge systems inform the way we understand, treat psychological conditions and promote mental well-being especially among the young people.
May this Madaraka Day inspire us to build a stronger, healthier, and more resilient society; one that values mental health and champions home-grown solutions for African challenges.
