Today, AFOSI staff participated in a radio discussion on the M.A.T.H Project (Mazingira, Afya, Tumaini, na Haki Yetu), co-funded by Sida - Styrelsen fΓΆr Internationellt Utvecklingssamarbete in partnership with Barnfonden and the role of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in creating sustainable and inclusive communities.

Implemented in APBET schools across Kibera and Mukuru informal settlements, the project seeks to ensure that children and youth realize their rights to a safe, healthy and sustainable environment. By working with children, youth, teachers, school owners and duty bearers, the project promotes environmental stewardship, health, hope and rights-based approaches to development.

As climate change, environmental degradation and socio-economic inequalities continue to affect vulnerable communities, initiatives like the M.A.T.H Project are helping to build resilience, strengthen awareness and inspire action towards a greener and more sustainable future.

From unheard voices to influential changemakers.

Every young woman deserves the opportunity to speak, be heard and shape the decisions that affect her life. Through this initiative, implemented in collaboration with African Union Restless Development AU-EU Youth Voices Lab - Power of the Collective One Million Next Level and co-funded by the European Union we are empowering young women living with HIV and young women with disabilities through knowledge, inclusion and advocacy.

Earlier today, we commemorated the Day of the African Child 2026, bringing together children, educators, government representatives, civil society actors and development partners to advocate for universal access to water, sanitation and hygiene services across Africa.

The event served as a platform for meaningful engagement on issues affecting children's health and development. Through performances, educational games, advocacy messages and awareness sessions, children actively participated in discussions around WASH, menstrual health and hygiene, disability inclusion, child protection, psychosocial support and substance abuse prevention.

Implemented through the MATH Project, co-funded by Sida - Styrelsen fΓΆr Internationellt Utvecklingssamarbete in partnership with Barnfonden Barnfonden, these efforts contribute to strengthening child well-being and resilience within communities. The activities resonate strongly with AFOSI's commitment to promoting children's rights, participation, protection and holistic development.

As we celebrate the Day of the African Child 2026, we are reminded that every child has the right to grow up in an environment that supports their health, dignity and development. This year's theme, "Ensuring universal access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) for every child in Africa," calls for renewed commitment and action to address inequalities in access to essential WASH services.

Through the MATH Project, implemented with the support of Barnfonden and Sida - Styrelsen fΓΆr Internationellt Utvecklingssamarbete, we continue to work towards creating safe and enabling environments where children can thrive, learn and realize their full potential. Access to clean water, adequate sanitation and proper hygiene practices is fundamental to achieving this vision.

Let us join hands in advocating for policies, investments, and community-led solutions that ensure no child is left behind.
πŸ’§ Clean water for every child.
🚰 Safe sanitation for every child.
🧼 Good hygiene for every child.

Today, AFOSI staff participated in a Fundraising and Resource Mobilization Training facilitated by Shadrack Biwott, aimed at strengthening our capacity to mobilize resources and build sustainable partnerships.

The session explored various fundraising and resource mobilization approaches, emphasizing the importance of donor engagement, relationship management and organizational visibility. The staff gained practical insights on attracting, retaining and growing support for impactful programs.

One key takeaway from the training was: "Gain, Keep, Grow Donors" a reminder that successful fundraising goes beyond acquiring donors to nurturing long term relationships.

Another powerful message shared was: "For you to be fundable, you have to be findable," highlighting the importance of visibility, credibility and effective communication in attracting funding opportunities.
