🎉 New Publication from the Health Data Acumen Team! 📚

We are excited to share the results of our latest study, led by Ulrich Flore Nyaga exploring the impact of atrial fibrillation (AF) screening on thromboembolic events, major bleeding, and mortality.

🌟 Why does this matter?
Recommendations for AF screening vary across scientific societies due to uncertainties about its true benefits. This study, based on a meta-analysis of 6 randomized controlled trials (74,145 patients), provides critical insights.

🔍 Key Findings:
• AF screening significantly increases AF detection (RR 2.54) and initiation of oral anticoagulants (RR 2.19).
• A reduction in ischemic stroke (RR 0.93) and thromboembolic events (RR 0.93) was observed.
• No significant differences were found for major bleeding, hemorrhagic stroke, or all-cause mortality.

📌 Conclusion:
These findings suggest that AF screening could play a key role in preventing thromboembolic events, offering promising opportunities to enhance preventive care.

Nous sommes fiers de partager les résultats de notre dernière étude menée par Ulrich Flore, qui explore l’impact du dépistage de la fibrillation auriculaire (FA) sur les événements thromboemboliques, les saignements majeurs et la mortalité.

🌟 Pourquoi est-ce important ?
Les recommandations sur le dépistage de la FA varient d’une société scientifique à l’autre, principalement en raison d’incertitudes sur ses avantages réels. Cette étude, basée sur une méta-analyse de 6 essais cliniques randomisés (74 145 patients), apporte des réponses cruciales.

🔍 Résultats clés :
• Le dépistage de la FA augmente significativement la détection de la FA (RR 2,54) et l’initiation des anticoagulants oraux (RR 2,19).

Living longer with HIV is a triumph, but it brings new challenges like hypertension. As reported in our recent study* conducted in the National Teaching Hospital in Benin, a high proportion of patients on ART experience this silent killer. Age, lifestyle, and overwhelming or obesity are significant risk factors associated with hypertension prevalence in this population like in the general population.

On this World AIDS Day, let’s move beyond the virus—let’s protect hearts, strengthen lives, and champion holistic care for all.

Diabetes is a impacting 𝟏 𝐢𝐧 𝟏𝟎 𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞. In 2019 alone, diabetes and its complications, including kidney disease, accounted for an estimated 𝟐 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐬.
