Choosing a family planning method should be informed and stress-free.

The IUCD (Intrauterine Contraceptive Device) is a small T-shaped device placed in the uterus to prevent pregnancy. It is a highly effective, long-acting, and reversible contraceptive option.

There are two types:
• Copper IUCD (non-hormonal, lasts up to 10–12 years)
• Hormonal IUCD (releases progestin, lasts 3–8 years)

It works mainly by preventing fertilization and, in some cases, stopping ovulation.

✨ Benefits:
• Over 99% effective
• Long-term protection
• Reversible anytime
• No daily upkeep

Possible side effects may include mild cramping or changes in bleeding patterns, especially early on.

Good news: fertility returns quickly after removal, with no long-term effects.

It does NOT protect against STIs, so additional protection may still be needed.
