Pharmacists were among the diverse voices contributing to discussions at the 2026, with Dr Simon Wangia, MPSK 1970, bringing the perspective of Nakuru County to a panel discussion on Sustaining Financing and Investment Reforms.
Drawing from his experience in county health systems, Dr Wangia highlighted the realities of financing and investment at the sub-national level, underscoring the importance of sustainable health financing in strengthening service delivery and advancing .
His participation also demonstrated the breadth of expertise and diverse roles pharmacists bring to the health sector. Beyond the traditional dispensing role, pharmacists contribute to health systems leadership, medicines and health technologies management, supply chains, policy implementation, financing and strategic decision-making.
Dr Wangiaโs engagement reflects the growing contribution of pharmacists to conversations shaping Kenyaโs health system and reinforces the importance of ensuring that pharmacy voices are represented in national and county-level health policy and reform discussions.
Dr Wangia has served as a pharmacist within the Nakuru County health system, with his work including strengthening health systems.
