Intimacy? 🫧 And no, it’s not only about penetrative seggs, which is what a lot of us think it is. 😉 It’s much more than that.

I like to see intimacy as INTO-ME-YOU-SEE which means that partners share their minds, bodies and souls, which allows vulnerability, trust and safety – the key ingredients to enhance and allow for a long-term relationship to thrive, even when changes and challenges present themselves.

And guess what? There are 🎱 different kinds of intimacy and here are some ways you can build on these:

🍒Physical Intimacy (is non-seggsual), and intention is so important here so grabbing your partner with the intention to have seggs isn’t what this is. Instead try: hugging your partner before work and when they return; holding their hand or rest your hand on their shoulder to let them know you are there and you care.

🫐Emotional intimacy is being naked with your emotions and an opportunity to show your partner that you have their back no matter what. Try: sharing fears and things that make you anxious; accept that flaws are a part of who you are and practice understanding and tolerance.

🍊Spiritual intimacy is having a layer that connects partners, and it doesn’t have to be exactly the same. Try: If your partner goes to church on a Sunday, accompany them from time to time; and if your partner is more spiritual than religious practice some mindful meditation or deep breathing with them.

🍓Affection intimacy is all about how you show them affection, again this is non-seggsual so remember intention is everything here. Try: physical touch like hugging, kissing, cuddling (whether in private or public); saying loving comments and complementing each other; practicing gratitude for the beautiful things they do without even thinking.

🍍Intellectual intimacy is all about how you are able to stimulate each others minds and grow together individually and as a couple. Try: reading together; watching the news together; taking up a project that will highlight each others strengths and challenges - make a plan to grow together.

🍇Experiential intimacy is how partners share experiences and moments together. Try: create a bucket list of all the places you would like to visit together (even if you can’t travel at this moment); going on dates and weekend breaks (if you can’t do this, pick a virtual tour to do together and visit a country virtually).

🥭Social intimacy is how partners make time to do things together in a social space, whether on their own or with friends. Try: going for a game drive; window shopping; visiting a new place together.

🍑Seggsual intimacy is a combination of in*******se and outercourse, and I have saved it for last as building on the 7 above before you get here will allow you to have mutually fulfilling experiences to last the ages. Try: explore each other’s bodies with no distractions (alcohol, drugs, TV); talk about likes, dislikes and create a pleasure jar of things you would like to explore together. Remember seggs is about where you go, not what you do.

Have an amazing day enhancing and nurturing intimacy and passion in your relationships.

Today I am sharing a post on how healthy relationship dynamics that involve partners being responsible for how they respond to each other and how they show up in the relationship. If you have explored attachment styles, this is how secure partners show up and function in a relationship:

🌸Honest Communication: Partners state their needs directly without playing guessing games or using manipulation.

🌸Constructive Conflict Resolution: Disagreements are handled without personal attacks. Instead of punishing or stonewalling, secure partners focus on understanding perspectives and finding solutions.

🌸Healthy Boundaries: Both individuals support each other's success and are comfortable maintaining separate hobbies, friendships, and alone time without feeling threatened.

🌸Trust and Reliability: There is a baseline expectation that both partners are consistent, keep their commitments, and are available for emotional support in times of need.

🌸Vulnerability and Empathy: Secure individuals are comfortable showing their fears and insecurities, and they respond to their partner's emotions with genuine compassion.

If you find that this is not how you show up in your relationship, you can work towards being secure, even if you are more anxious or avoidant at this moment. Attachment styles can change with the right support, awareness and behavior change.

Have a wonderful day.

Ending the week with a post that talks about how powerful words can be. Contrary to popular belief that “sticks and stones may break your bones but words will never hurt you” is something we may have grown up hearing, and can’t be further from the truth.

Words impact us in ways that can either uplift or break us. It’s also evident in the way that we talk to each other, whether it is day to day conversation, delivering feedback or talking through challenging issues. Understanding and being considerate over the words we use, the tone we use and the timing are all important factors to ensure that we communicate our needs effectively and are able to allow the people around us to feel respected and cared for.

Are you mindful of how you use your words? Don’t be the reason that someone isn’t able to leave their home, feel low or not able to take action towards something that matters to them.

Have an awesome day and see you soon for another Feel Good Friday!

Loving this post by the holistic psychologist. If you ever doubted how powerful emotions are, this post will show you just how much.

The crime that we see out on the street and beyond is partly a result of a lack of emotional regulation. The large numbers of people who are struggling with behavioral addictions, also partly as a result of trying to escape pain or their realities. Gender based violence or break ups that end in someone taking things too far is also as a result of people not being able to regulate their emotions. Behavior that is so over the top that you wonder what’s going on with someone, is also part of emotions taking over.

Emotional regulation is so important in the world we live in today and learning how to regulate your emotions is the true meaning of being an adult, which includes having a disagreement or difficult conversation and not taking it out on someone else. All your feelings are valid, however not all behaviors are acceptable. If you are struggling with being able to regulate your emotions, the therapy space can help; with learned skills, understanding, awareness and practice we can improve the overall human experience for everyone.

Have an awesome day.

Seggsual confidence and a lack of understanding of how pleasure and our body works, can sometimes be blocked by how we were taught (or not taught) about seggsuality and sits within the messaging we received when we were younger. These become limiting beliefs as we get older and can be frustrating and stressful for us and our seggsual and/or romantic partners.

It’s never too late to unlearn things that you thought you knew and learn something new about your body…about your mind…about how seggs, body and mind are all connected…and how pleasure is something to be enjoyed and expressed safely through consent, respect and with body autonomy.

Here are some affirmations to recite as part of a daily mindfulness practice to get you started to being more comfortable in your skin, and to be able to communicate your needs and share feedback too. Your partner is not a mind reader, so if they are not doing something right, please tell them…not your friends. 😉

Have a gorgeous day ahead.

Growing up yields different experiences for everyone. There are things we have picked up on our journeys and as such operate through these learned behaviors which may not be fit for purpose or aligned to the lives we have in the here and now. Here are some words and phrases that we may need to unlearn and relearn to help us thrive in the lives that we have, not just survive.

Ending the week and the month of May with a kind reminder to take stock of the language that you use because life can feel lighter depending on how you speak to yourself. Have a beautiful day and see you tomorrow for another Feel Good Friday with yours truly…back on my regular dance floor in Nairobi.

They say that “home is where the heart is” and that can be true. What can also be true is that, home is a sanctuary where you feel safe…where your nervous system feels regulated and where you can also drop your defenses; because the outside world can be challenging and unforgiving. Wherever “home” is for you, I hope that it feels warm and fuzzy, not a battle ground that you have to protect yourself from. Please be mindful over who you let into your home, whether that be your heart or your personal space.

I would also like to wish all my wonderful Muslim brothers and sisters a blessed Eid Al-Adha filled with peace, happiness and prosperity.

Take care of yourself and have a beautiful day ahead.
