From Kenya to the global breastfeeding conversation. 🇰🇪🌍
We are proud to see our Chair, Florence Wanguhu, Wambui Your Midwife joining maternal and child health experts from across the region for this World Breastfeeding Week 2026 webinar on “Creating Sustainable Support Systems in Breastfeeding.”
Sustainable breastfeeding support is built when knowledge, skilled care and strong systems come together across facilities, communities and borders.

Florence brings to this conversation her experience as a midwife, lactation and childbirth educator, and Chair of the Kenya Association for Breastfeeding.

As we close , we celebrate Kenyan voices contributing to the wider conversation on how we can strengthen what works and build support systems that truly enable families to breastfeed.

Congratulations, Florence — represent us well! 🇰🇪👏🏾

🧠 BREAST SIZE DOESN’T DEFINE BREASTFEEDING SUCCESS!

During our hands-on breastfeeding education session, we use models of different breast sizes to train healthcare workers and mothers — because it’s not the size that matters, it’s the support, technique, and frequency that count!

Let’s bust some common myths:
❌ Myth: Bigger breasts produce more milk
✅ Fact: Milk production depends on demand and glandular tissue — not breast size!

❌ Myth: Small breasts can’t make enough milk
✅ Fact: Breastfeeding success is possible for all sizes — good latch and regular feeding are key.

👩🏾‍⚕️ At the Kenya Association for Breastfeeding, we’re on a mission to empower mothers with science-based knowledge, not stigma or misinformation.

Let’s support every mother, every drop, every baby.

Meet Wambui Wanjau
Chair, Kenya Association for Breastfeeding

As we celebrate Breastfeeding Week, we’re honoured to introduce the warm, wise, and passionate woman leading our work—Wambui Wanjau.

Wambui is a lactation specialist, midwife, and a true advocate for gentle, supported birth—especially homebirths, which she holds close to her heart.

She’s also a childbirth educator and perinatal loss specialist, walking with families through both the beauty and heartbreak of the perinatal journey—with compassion, presence, and love.

Wambui believes that getting families the right support starts with educating healthcare providers and the community at large. Under her leadership, the Kenya Association for Breastfeeding is working toward a future where every family feels informed, supported, and empowered.

She reminds us that breastfeeding is not just a personal act—it’s a shared responsibility. 💛

Let’s celebrate her, and all those working quietly and tirelessly behind the scenes to support mothers, babies, and families across Kenya.

This has been an amazing and empowering week!

Day Three of the African Doula Workshop is officially wrapped — and WOW, what a day! 🌟

Today was all about movement, comfort, and hands-on support. From imagery and massage to acupressure, patterned breathing, and position changes — our doulas-in-training learned how to bring real relief and real results in labor.

These techniques are not just tools — they’re empowerment in action. Helping women cope, progress, and birth with confidence and dignity.

Special thanks to our incredible guest facilitators
– Childbirth educators and doulas dedicated to walking with mums through pregnancy & birth
– Homebirth midwife, lactation consultant, and certified Body Ready Method®️ pro, bringing deep wisdom to the space

We are learning, growing, and building a community of skilled, heart-led birth workers. On to Day Four!

Day Four of the Approved Birth Doula Workshop is complete — and the transformation continues!

Each day, the energy deepens, the sisterhood strengthens, and the purpose becomes even clearer. Today was filled with rich conversations, practical learning, and the kind of inner work that shapes confident, compassionate doulas.

As always, we’re grateful for the presence of our incredible guest educators, and , whose wisdom and experience continue to elevate this space.

We are growing, learning, unlearning, and rising — one day at a time. See you on Day Five!
