MEDS staff participated in the 22nd Annual Scientific Conference of the Kenya Pharmaceutical Association (KPA), held at PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa, Mombasa, from 29th July to 1st August 2026.
Held under the theme, "Optimizing Pharmaceutical Practice Excellence for Patient Safety and Medicines Access," the conference provided a strategic platform for advancing professional pharmacy practice and shaping the future of healthcare in Kenya. The scientific sessions emphasized evidence-based practice, ethical leadership, continuous professional development, patient-centered pharmaceutical care, digital health and innovation as key drivers of excellence in pharmaceutical services.
The conference also highlighted Kenya's national policy direction towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through the Social Health Authority (SHA), Digital Health Authority (DHA) underscoring the critical role of qualified pharmaceutical professionals and pharmaceutical institutions in strengthening medicines regulation, quality assurance, antimicrobial stewardship, resilient supply chains, local pharmaceutical manufacturing and equitable access to safe, effective, quality and affordable medicines. These priorities align with the country's ongoing health sector reforms and reinforce the importance of a competent, accountable and future-ready pharmaceutical workforce.
MEDS participation reaffirmed its commitment to professional Pharmacy practice excellence and its strategic role in supporting national and global health priorities. The knowledge, partnerships, and emerging best practices gained will enhance MEDS capacity to strengthen essential health products and technologies pharmaceutical supply chain systems, quality control/assurance ,
Health Systems Strengthening and uphold the highest standards of quality and patient safety and contribute to a resilient healthcare system that delivers better health outcomes for all Kenyans.
