To my new friends and long-time followers: you might know my face, but you might not know my whole story. Let's change that!

I have been a medical doctor since 2006, a wife to a cardiothoracic surgeon, and a proud mom of three—including 18-year-old twins and an 11-year-old son.

My wellness journey started with a personal goal: getting back into shape after delivering my kids via C-section. But over the years as a practicing physician, my passion completely evolved.

True health is about so much more than a number on a weighing scale.

Today, my focus is on using lifestyle adjustments to prevent chronic diseases and safely reduce the heavy medication burden so many patients face.

Because I am deeply passionate about physical exercise and nutritious eating, I frequently share practical tips here, as well as on my lifestyle-focused account - Esther Dindi

Ultimately, my goal is to optimize both my lifespan and my healthspan.
I want to stay strong, radiate energy, keep up with my kids, and grow old alongside my husband. 🙏🏾

While I do not always get it right, I never quit, because I believe in progress over perfection.

True health is built through the small, daily choices we consistently make:

◇ Fueling well: Eating balanced meals rich in protein and fiber. 🥗🥬

◇ Moving daily: Working out and building functional muscle. 💪🏾

◇ Resting fully: Balancing hard work with restorative rest. 🛌

◇ Showing grace: Giving ourselves permission to restart whenever we fall off track.

Real life has its challenges, but together, we can pursue stronger, healthier versions of ourselves.

It is never too late to start taking care of your body, and you are absolutely worth the investment.

If you are new here, a warm welcome. If you have been here a while, thank you for walking this path with me. 🤝🏾

Let's connect: What is one small wellness goal you are focusing on right now? Comment below 👇🏾 so we can cheer each other on.

The secret to fat loss isn't just what you eat... it’s the order in which you eat it.

Dietary fiber is a powerful tool for fat loss and helping to prevent weight regain. High-fiber foods keep you feeling full on fewer calories, making it much easier to sustain the calorie deficit needed to lose fat.

Instead of fighting your appetite, try eating your vegetables first.

Here is why you should always start your meals with a salad or non-starchy vegetables:

1️⃣ Creates a glucose buffer: It slows down sugar absorption from the rest of your meal, which flattens blood sugar spikes.

2️⃣ Extends fullness: It slows gastric emptying, keeping you satisfied and providing steady energy throughout the day.

3️⃣ Boosts metabolic health: It naturally improves your insulin sensitivity.

4️⃣ Supports regular digestion: It adds bulk to your stool, preventing constipation.

Next time you plate up your lunch or dinner, let your vegetables lead the way!

Are you going to try the 'fiber first' rule at the next meal? 🙋🏾‍♀️🙋🏾‍♂️

Did you know we can lose up to 8% of our muscle mass every single decade?

It is a natural process called , and it starts right after the age of 30 for both men and women.

If we do not actively use our muscles, they literally start to shrink, weaken, and disappear.

Muscle is not just about looks; it is the ultimate currency for longevity, metabolic health, and overall wellness.

In recent years, I have become obsessed with muscle health—and if you are a woman, you should be too.

The good news is that you don’t need a fancy gym membership to look after your body. You just need to commit, get started, and be consistent.

Here are a few tips to help you protect your future self:
- Add strength training to your weekly routine.
- Start with bodyweight exercises, then gradually introduce weights or resistance bands at home.
- Prioritize your protein intake to help those muscles rebuild.

Muscle is key to maintaining vibrancy, independence, a graceful posture, and healthy aging.

Invest in your strength today, and it will pay off in the long run.

If you don’t currently include strength training in your weekly routine, I recommend that you start now.

Raise your hand 🤚🏾 if you’re going to do so!

You can look perfectly fit in clothes and still be medically obese on the inside.

Your scale doesn’t tell the whole story.

You can be physically slim but metabolically unhealthy—a condition known as TOFI (Thin Outside, Fat Inside) or Normal Weight Obesity.

Even if you look thin, having high body fat and low muscle mass carries the same heart attack and diabetes risks as being visibly overweight.

When you try to lose weight without strength training, you lose vital muscle mass.

- Muscles act as your body's main glucose "absorbers."

- Muscle loss triggers insulin resistance and crashes your metabolic rate.

- The result is accelerated aging, frailty, weak bones, and rapid fat regain.

To reverse this, stop defaulting to the easiest fitness routines.

Effective management requires a two-pronged approach:

1. Eat quality protein to repair lean tissue.

2. Lift weights to progressively overload and build muscle.

Red flags 🚩 🚩 to Watch For:

👉🏾 Waist-to-Height Ratio: A waistline greater than half your height (ratio over 0.50).

👉🏾 Visual Check: A noticeable belly "pooch" despite thin arms and legs.

👉🏾 Medical Markers: High blood pressure, high triglycerides, or high fasting glucose.

👉🏾Functional Strength: Struggling with basic bodyweight squats, pushups, or grip strength.

(Note: While these red flags help you self-assess, a DEXA scan remains the gold standard for accurate body composition analysis.)

Lifting weights not only makes you stronger, it amplifies the metabolism and makes it easier to burn body fat!

Exercise is not just for weight loss; it is for health.
When done often:

📍It improves insulin sensitivity,

📍It boosts mood,

📍It strengthens bones and muscles

📍It reduces long-term frailty, and

📍It boosts metabolism.

Food scientists have created a secret weapon against us called the "bliss point."

By blending sugar, fat, and salt with precision, they trigger a chemical reaction in your brain that mutes your satiety signals.

You overeat not because you are hungry, but because your brain has been hijacked.

This explains why you can easily demolish a whole pack of crisps or crackers, yet find it difficult to overeat sukuma wiki or boiled maize.

Our biology programmed us to seek out calorie-dense foods because human survival once depended on them.
Today, manufacturers exploit this evolutionary trait by engineering ultra-processed foods to hit that hyper-rewarding, manufactured sweet spot.

When you eat this trio, it triggers a massive dopamine release that drives intense cravings. Because these heavily processed items lack actual nutrients and fiber, the brain never registers full satisfaction, leading to effortless overeating.

Modern life makes this an incredibly easy trap to fall into. Fast-paced schedules and aggressive marketing make convenient, ready-to-eat meals look like lifesavers for busy people.
Furthermore, because salt and sugar double as cheap preservatives, manufacturers hide them everywhere to cut costs. They are packed into savory sauces, dressings, spreads, and everyday commercial breads.

Over time, this constant metabolic overload inflicts serious medical damage:
📍 Excess salt raises blood pressure, severely straining your heart and blood vessels.

📍 High sugar intake spikes blood glucose and drives insulin resistance, paving the way for Type 2 diabetes.

📍 Unhealthy fats clog arteries and drastically increase the risk of stroke.

📍 Excess fructose bypasses regular digestion and goes straight to the liver, converting directly into dangerous visceral fat around your organs.

Ultimately, this combination triggers chronic cellular stress and body-wide inflammation.

The good news? You can take back control with a few simple shifts:
🫰🏾 Check the first three ingredients: Avoid packaged foods that list sugar or sodium sources right at the top of the label.

🫰🏾 Prioritize home cooking: Preparing your own meals gives you total control over the ingredients.

🫰🏾 Upgrade your flavor game: Use herbs, spices, garlic, onion, ginger, and vinegars to create amazing taste without relying on sodium.

🫰🏾 Track your fats mindfully: Healthy fats like olive oil, avocado oil, and ghee are great, but they are calorie-dense. Match them to your daily energy goals.

In a previous post, I explained how sugar gets hidden in many foods and how to avoid it.
📌 I will share the link in the comments.

What measures will you use to help you cut down on salt, sugar, and fat?

Sugar, fats and salt are often consumed in excess!
Do you know why or how?

It is beautiful to watch a father see the impact of his love. 🥹
Seeing Keith Dindi get the recognition he deserves yesterday truly filled my cup.

There is nothing quite like watching him bask in the absolute warmth of appreciation and praise from the Dindilets. Seeing them recognize what an incredible dad he has been to them was the best thing ever—and this brief video from Dindi | UGC Creator was the absolute cherry on top.

Please pay close attention to how a guy who just turned 18 immediately refers to himself as a “Man.” 😁

They really grow up overnight, don’t they?!
