Disease surveillance and preparednes are the backbone of strong public health systems. Some of the most important public health work happens long before an emergency is declared.

Every day, surveillance teams, researchers, laboratories, and partners work together to monitor health threats, strengthen preparedness, and support early detection efforts.

Strong preparedness is built on strong surveillance. These ongoing efforts help ensure that health systems and communities are ready to respond when needed.
