Mwai Kibaki Referral Hospital joins the global community in marking World Hand Hygiene Day.

Today, we reaffirm our commitment to patient safety by reinforcing the importance of proper hand hygiene across all our service points. Demonstrations on correct hand washing techniques are displayed at all hand washing stations throughout the hospital, to ensure both staff and patients are well informed.

To our healthcare workers, we highly emphasize the 5 moments of Hand Hygiene, a critical standard in preventing the spread of infections in clinical settings.

Together, we can reduce the risk of infections and promote a culture of safety within our hospital and beyond.

Today Mwai Kibaki Referral Hospital was honored to receive a heartfelt visit from St. Luke Small Christian Community of Catholic Church, Othaya Parish who spent time with patients in Oncology, Maternity and Paediatric wards.
Driven by compassion and a desire to share love with the most vulnerable in society, the group generously gifted the patients and also donated two bales of maize flour to support patient feeding within the hospital.
We truly appreciate these acts of goodwill that continue to uplift our patients and inspire hope.

🏢 A Dream taking shape....
Today was one of the moments that define progress for Mwai Kibaki Referral Hospital as we witnessed the official hand over of the site for the construction of the Proposed Mwai Kibaki Clinical Tower.
The project, whose first phase is valued at 500Million, will deliver a modern 120-bed facility designed to significantly enhance healthcare service delivery. The clinical tower will host specialist outpatient clinics, a modern pharmacy, advanced laboratory services, imaging and a blood unit and is expected to be completed within nine months.
The handover ceremony was led by the Board Chair. Gen. (Retd.) Robert Kibochi and attended by Board Members, the Ag. CEO - Dr. Mûirûrí, the Area MP- Hon. Wambûgû Wainaina and the MKRH staff.
The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), led by Brig. Sokobe, officially received the site before handing it over to the contractor. The KDF team will provide, oversight, supervision and project management to ensure timely and quality delivery. Notably, the KDF, has previously supported the hospital through the drilling of a borehole, significantly improving water supply within the facility.
The Board Chair noted that the project is a key milestone in the hospital's strategic plan and a critical step towards advancing Universal Health Coverage. The Area MP expressed satisfaction in seeing the project come to fruition and reaffirmed continued support.

We look ahead to the next nine months with confidence, excitement and a shared commitment to delivering quality healthcare for all.

The dental unit at Mwai Kibaki Referral Hospital is extending services to the community through a Free oral health camp running from today to Thursday 2nd April.
During this period, the team will offer:
🦷 Free dental check-ups.
🦷 Oral cancer screening.
🦷 Oral health education and guidance.
