WHAT TO DO:
✅Move to safety: Get a safe distance away from the snake.
✅Stay calm & still: Reassure the victim. Panic increases heart rate and speeds the spread of venom.
✅Immobilize the limb: Keep the bitten area level with or below the heart and restrict movement. Use a splint if possible
✅Remove constrictions: Take off rings, watches, or tight clothing immediately, as swelling will occur.
✅Clean the wound: Wash gently with soap and water, then cover with a clean, dry bandage.
✅Identify the snake: Try to remember the snake’s shape, color, and markings without putting yourself at risk. Take a photo from a safe distance if possible.
✅ Get help: Call emergency services or arrange for immediate transport to the nearest hospital.
WHAT NOT TO DO:
❌Do not use a tourniquet: Tying off a limb can cause permanent damage or amputation.
❌Do not apply ice: Ice can cause tissue damage.
❌Do not cut or suck: Never cut the bite site or try to extract the venom by mouth.
❌Do not take pain meds: Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen, as they thin the blood and increase the risk of bleeding.
❌Do not drink alcohol or caffeine: These can cause your body to absorb venom faster.
