Pinch Lifting Plus-Up minimizes skin dissection & maximizes SMAS dissection.
It is technically the same surgery as the deep plane facelift, which is widely performed around the world recently.
Many clinics do not perform SMAS dissection during a mini-facelift, but lifting without SMAS dissection inevitably has issues with effectiveness & duration.
As shown in the image, the SMAS is bound to retaining ligaments, & the SMAS cannot be moved without severing them.
In particular, if the zygomatic ligament & masseteric ligament are not severed, the movement of the SMAS is highly restricted.
Pinch Lifting is a method that maximizes the lifting effect by completely severing these retaining ligaments, which interfere the most with lifting.
The area around the zygomatic ligament is where the zygomatic branch of the facial nerve rises to the superficial layer, making it vulnerable to damage & the area that requires the most caution during a facelift.
Therefore, unless one has sufficient anatomical knowledge & surgical experience, it is impossible to sever these retaining ligaments through a mini-facelift.
For this reason, many clinics often perform mini-facelifts without SMAS dissection.
Surgery without SMAS dissection has an excellent immediate effect, but like a thread lift, its duration is short.
Rather, it can be worse than a thread lift due to side effects such as hair loss.
(Lifting without SMAS dissection has a higher probability of hair loss.)
