Dry, irritated eyes may be caused by blocked oil glands not a lack of tears.

Meibomian gland expression is a targeted treatment used to manage meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) and dry eye syndrome. During the procedure, an eye care professional applies controlled, gentle pressure to the eyelids to release trapped or thickened oils from the meibomian glands.

These oils form the protective outer layer of the tear film, helping prevent tears from evaporating too quickly. By restoring healthier oil flow, the treatment may improve tear-film stability and relieve symptoms such as dryness, burning, irritation, fluctuating vision, and eye fatigue.

For better, longer-lasting results, meibomian gland expression is often combined with warm compresses, eyelid cleansing, artificial tears, IPL or other dry-eye treatments.

Final Follow-Up

1st Follow Up
