AMC has launched a joint Korea U.S. research project to develop a new treatment strategy for treatment resistant solid tumors by combining next generation radiopharmaceuticals with AI based precision medicine. 🧠🏥🔬

The project will develop radiopharmaceutical therapies that target both cancer cells and the tumor microenvironment, while using AI to analyze pathology, spatial omics and clinical data to identify suitable patients and predict treatment response. By integrating therapeutic development with AI based patient stratification, the team aims to expand treatment options for patients with solid tumors that have limited response to conventional therapies. 🧬☢️🤖

AMC and Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST) have developed SAFE (Sonication Assisted Liposome Fusion with Extracellular Vesicles), an ultra rapid diagnostic platform that can directly detect disease related microRNAs from just a drop of blood plasma in approximately 10 minutes. By eliminating complex procedures such as extracellular vesicle isolation and RNA extraction, the platform could support rapid diagnosis in emergency settings and precision medicine for vascular diseases. The study was also selected as a cover article in the latest issue of Small (impact factor: 11.8), a leading international journal in nanoscience and biomaterials.

AMC hosted an international symposium with the Indonesian Society of Gastroenterology on August 12–13, sharing its expertise in advanced endoscopic procedures with Indonesian physicians. Held in a hybrid format, the symposium featured lectures, discussions and hands on observation of advanced endoscopic procedures, including EUS and ERCP. The event strengthened clinical and academic collaboration between the two countries and highlighted AMC’s global leadership in digestive endoscopy. AMC’s Digestive Endoscopy Center was also recognized as a World Endoscopy Organization (WEO) Center of Excellence in 2025, making it the only institution in Korea to receive the accreditation. 🌏🤝🏥🔬🩺🩻📚💡🌐

AMC’s International Healthcare Cooperation Team visited Mongolia’s Northern Regional Cancer Center, a branch of the National Cancer Center of Mongolia in Erdenet, from August 3 to 6. The 16-member team treated approximately 750 patients, performed ultrasound examinations and breast biopsies, and provided training in cancer diagnosis and treatment to local medical professionals. 🏥🤝🩺

The team also visited Agape Christian Hospital and the First Central Hospital of Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar to discuss future collaboration, including patient referrals and medical training. The initiative builds on AMC’s longstanding partnership with Mongolia through the “Asan in Asia” project. Since 2010, 225 Mongolian medical professionals have received training at AMC, while continued liver transplantation collaboration has helped more than 300 Mongolian patients undergo living donor liver transplantation. 🎓🔬❤️

Over five years, more than 10,000 patients have received multidisciplinary support, helping reduce gaps in care and promote a safe return to daily life. After growing up in a group home and struggling with severe congenital malocclusion, she spent much of her life hiding her circumstances and appearance. Through AMC’s “Sharing Hope Campaign,” she received financial support for orthodontic treatment and orthognathic surgery, which transformed not only her appearance but also her outlook on life. 🏥💙🩺👩⚕️

Her experience as a patient inspired her to pursue nursing with greater purpose. As she prepares to enter the workforce, she hopes to become a compassionate nurse who understands patients’ fears and difficulties firsthand. In the future, she also wants to connect patients in difficult circumstances with the support and opportunities they need, passing on the kindness and care she received from her family, social workers, and AMC. 🌱✨🤝❤️🩹🌈🙏

AMC has reached 1,000 cases of same day outpatient pancreatic biopsy, Korea’s first hospitalization free pancreatic biopsy program. The program enables rapid diagnosis without hospital admission, achieving 95% diagnostic accuracy and a complication rate of less than 1%.

By shortening the time from initial consultation to definitive diagnosis to within one week on average, the program helps pancreatic cancer patients begin personalized treatment without delay. Based on extensive clinical expertise and multidisciplinary collaboration, AMC continues to provide accurate diagnosis and timely treatment for patients with pancreatic cancer. 🩺🏥🔬🧬🎯⏱️

A joint research team led by Professors Jooae Choe of the Department of Radiology and Ho Cheol Kim of the Division of Pulmonology and Critical Care Medicine at Asan Medical Center, together with Professor Ho Yun Lee of the Department of Radiology at Samsung Medical Center developed an AI based quantitative CT analysis technology to measure pulmonary fibrosis progression and predict prognosis in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).

The study found that patients with a more than 4.05 percent increase in pulmonary fibrosis score over one year had a higher risk of lung transplantation or death. The AI based tool provides an objective assessment marker to support early risk detection and personalized treatment strategies.

The findings were published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine (AJRCCM, Impact Factor: 21.7). 🫁🧬🤖🩻📊🔬🏥📈🩺💡
