🎀 Pink October |

🎀 Early Detection Saves Lives. Awareness Gives Hope.

🔬 Configuration: Annular, linear, grouped, targetoid, নাকি reticular?

🔬 Surface: Scaly, crusted, smooth, নাকি blistering?

🔬 Site: Skin folds, extensor surface, palms and soles, scalp, নাকি mucosa?

Skin speaks in patterns. The diagnosis begins with learning how to read them.

MELASMA IS NOT JUST A PIGMENT PROBLEM. 🧬

One of the biggest misconceptions about melasma is that we only need to remove the excess pigment.

But melasma is biologically more complex.

Research suggests that alongside increased melanin, melasma-affected skin may show changes involving melanocyte activity, photoaging, vascular components and the skin’s basement membrane.

This helps explain something patients often ask:

“Why does my melasma return even after it becomes lighter?”

Because clearing the visible pigment does not necessarily remove every factor contributing to the condition.

☀️ Ultraviolet radiation matters.
💡 Visible light can matter, particularly in darker skin types.
🔥 Heat may be a trigger for some patients.
🧬 Hormonal and individual susceptibility also play a role.
⚠️ And excessive irritation can create more pigmentation rather than less.

This is why I don’t approach melasma as simply “removing a dark patch.”

I approach it as a chronic, relapsing pigmentation disorder that requires individualized treatment, photoprotection and maintenance.

Sometimes the smartest treatment is not the most aggressive one.

Treat the biology, not just the colour.

Acanthosis nigricans appears as dark, thick, velvety skin, commonly around the neck, underarms or groin.

It can sometimes be associated with insulin resistance, obesity, PCOS or diabetes.

⚠️ Scrubbing harder or using random whitening creams won’t treat the underlying cause.

The right approach is to identify the trigger first, then treat the skin appropriately.

Your skin can sometimes give clues about what’s happening inside your body.

Alopecia Areata | More Than a Patch of Hair Loss 🌱

From my clinical experience in Kuwait💫

Alopecia areata is an immune-mediated, non-scarring alopecia in which the normal immune privilege of the hair follicle becomes disrupted.

This results in T-cell–mediated inflammation around the anagen follicle, interrupting active hair growth and altering the normal hair cycle.

What makes alopecia areata particularly interesting is that the follicle is usually not destroyed. The follicular stem-cell compartment remains preserved, leaving the potential for hair growth to restart once disease activity is controlled.

Early regrowth may appear as fine, lightly pigmented vellus hairs, gradually becoming thicker and more pigmented with recovery. 🌿

This is why assessment matters. Treating alopecia areata is not simply about stimulating hair growth. It is about recognising disease activity, controlling the inflammatory process and allowing the follicle to resume its normal cycle.

The hair may disappear, but the follicle retains the potential to recover.

Clinical course and treatment response vary between individuals.

PN/PDRN UNDER-EYE rejuvenation| Think Skin Quality, Not Volume

Real treatment Video shared with patient consent |
From my clinical experience in Kuwait💫

Fine lines, crepey texture and tired-looking under-eyes don’t always need filler.

PN/PDRN is a regenerative injectable focused on improving the skin itself. It supports repair, hydration and elasticity, helping delicate under-eye skin look smoother, firmer and more refreshed.

💉 The injection technique may look similar to other techniques but instead of your own plasma, a specially formulated PN (Polynucleotides) & PDRN (Polydeoxyribonucleotide) Under-Eye Rejuvenation product is used.

Best suited for: fine lines, dryness, crepey texture and poor skin quality.

It’s not about filling the under-eye.
It’s about helping the skin look healthier & rejuvenated

⭐️Don’t just fill the under-eye. Improve the skin itself.

Why Do Lips Remain Persistently Dry or Irritated?

Persistent lip irritation is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Identifying the trigger is often more important than adding another lip balm.👄🩺

The lips have a relatively fragile barrier and are particularly vulnerable to environmental and chemical irritation.

Persistent dryness, scaling, burning or fissuring may represent cheilitis, rather than simply a lack of moisture.

Repeated lip licking can create a wet-dry cycle that further disrupts the barrier. Fragrances, flavourings, lip cosmetics and certain oral-care products may cause irritant or allergic contact cheilitis. Environmental factors such as cold weather, low humidity and ultraviolet exposure can also contribute.

In some patients, persistent symptoms may be associated with atopic dermatitis, angular cheilitis, infection, nutritional deficiencies, medication effects, or other inflammatory conditions.

When lip irritation repeatedly returns despite regular moisturising, we should stop treating it simply as “dry lips” and look for the underlying cause.

🎀 3 Skincare Mistakes That Could Be Harming Your Skin Barrier🎀

Healthy skin begins with informed choices. Some everyday skincare habits may unintentionally disrupt the skin barrier, trigger irritation or worsen existing concerns.

In this video, I discuss three common mistakes I frequently advise patients to avoid.

Evidence over trends. Consistency over complexity. Skincare tailored to your skin. Small everyday skincare habits can make a bigger difference than we realise.
