What's one of the most powerful things you can do for longevity?

Strength training.

From your 30s onwards, you naturally begin to lose muscle mass, and this accelerates with age. But muscle is not just about strength. It supports blood sugar control, bone health, mobility, and overall resilience.

Regular strength training is linked to better health outcomes, fewer falls, and a longer, healthier life. Just 2 to 3 sessions a week can make a real difference.

Because longevity is not just about living longer. It is about staying strong, independent, and capable for longer.

Strength training, combined with ongoing support, early detection, and a proactive approach to prevention, is what drives better long-term health.

That is where continuous primary care plays a key role, helping monitor risk factors, guide screening, and support your health as it evolves over time.

Brain fog is often a sign that something in your body is out of balance 🧠

Poor sleep, stress, blood sugar swings, dehydration, inflammation, and nutrient deficiencies can all impact focus, clarity, and mental energy.

In this video, Dr Paulo explains why brain fog is usually multifactorial, and why understanding the root causes matters.

We share this to raise awareness about the link between brain health and overall health, and why taking a more connected, ongoing approach to your care can support earlier insight, more personalised support, and better long term wellbeing.

Burnout isn’t just about doing too much.
It’s about doing too much for too long.

When you’re always operating at 100%, there’s no buffer for the unexpected. That’s when things start to feel overwhelming - not because you can’t cope, but because there’s no space to recover.

Because burnout isn’t weakness.
It’s overload.

Continuity of care helps identify and prevent burnout early, supporting long-term mental and physical wellbeing. Learn more about how this is being supported here in Grand Cayman through : https://platform.optimal.ky/

Did you know that up to 50% of people who experience a heart attack had no prior symptoms? 🫀

Cardiovascular disease can often develop silently over time, without obvious warning signs.

In this video, Dr Paulo explains how cardiovascular disease can progress quietly and why regular checkups, screenings, and preventive care are so important for early detection and long term health.

We share this information not to alarm, but to raise awareness about the importance of proactive healthcare. Identifying potential concerns early can make a significant difference to health outcomes.

Continuity of care also plays an important role. It helps build stronger relationships with your GP, supporting more personalised care, earlier intervention, and better long term wellbeing. Learn more about how this is supported in Grand Cayman through : https://platform.optimal.ky/

A note on the 'Best of' nominations

We are genuinely humbled to have been nominated again this year, and we want to thank everyone who took the time to put our name forward. That recognition means a great deal to our whole team.

As we did last year, however, we have taken the decision not to participate. Our reasoning has not changed. Competitions of this kind rely on open public voting, and the arrangements as they stand do not include meaningful controls against repeat voting or against organisations voting for themselves. The practical effect is that outcomes tend to reflect the size of an organisation's network and its willingness to mobilise internal voting, rather than the quality of care or service that patients actually receive. Larger organisations are favoured almost by design, and smaller providers are placed at a structural disadvantage regardless of merit.

We do not think a result produced on that basis would tell our patients, or anyone else, anything reliable about how we compare with our peers. Out of respect for the people who nominated us, and for the integrity of the recognition itself, we would rather step aside, as we did last year, than take part in a process whose outcome we do not believe reflects reality.

We remain enormously grateful for the trust placed in us, and we will continue to let the quality of our care speak for itself.

Sunday 17th May was 🫀, an important reminder to raise awareness about high blood pressure (hypertension) and how we can protect our heart health.

Today, Dr Paulo continues the conversation by sharing a video explaining why blood pressure matters. Often called the “silent killer”, high blood pressure can develop without obvious symptoms while gradually affecting the arteries and increasing long-term health risks.

Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing through your vessels. When it remains consistently high, it can strain and damage blood vessels from the inside over time.

This is why regular check-ups and blood pressure monitoring are so important, as understanding your numbers and continual GP care support early detection, ongoing monitoring, and timely intervention to reduce long-term cardiovascular risk.

Today 17th May is 🫀 and it’s an important reminder to raise awareness about high blood pressure (hypertension) and how we can protect our heart health.

Reducing salt helps, but it’s not the whole story.

Here are 6 ways to support healthy blood pressure:
✔️ Move your body regularly - aim for 30 mins most days
✔️ Eat a balanced diet - more whole foods, less ultra-processed
✔️ Manage stress levels
✔️ Prioritise good sleep
✔️ Limit alcohol intake
✔️ Maintain a healthy weight

Small changes over time can make a big difference.

In addition, continual GP care is key for effective blood pressure management, supporting early detection, monitoring, and long-term risk reduction.
