☀️ Flashback to summer learning! ✈️📚

This summer, our Occupational Therapist, Arianna McCoy travelled to Florida to complete hands-on training in the EASI (Evaluation in Ayres Sensory Integration®) assessment.

This specialized training builds on our team’s knowledge and skills in assessing sensory integration, helping us better understand how children process and respond to sensory information and how this may impact their participation in everyday activities.

We’re proud to support our therapists in continuing to learn, grow, and bring evidence-informed assessment and intervention approaches back to the children and families we serve. 💙

Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), often referred to as dyspraxia, can affect a child’s ability to plan, coordinate and carry out motor tasks. These challenges may impact handwriting, dressing, self-care, classroom participation, play, sports and overall confidence.

This session will explore:

• Early signs and developmental red flags
• Sensory integration, praxis and motor planning
• The role of the Evaluation in Ayres Sensory Integration® (EASI) in comprehensive assessment
• The impact of DCD on learning, independence and everyday participation
• Common co-occurring conditions, including ADHD, autism, learning differences and anxiety
• Evidence-informed occupational therapy approaches
• Practical recommendations for referral and interdisciplinary support

We explored the important skills that help young children plan, focus, remember instructions, manage emotions, and navigate their everyday routines.
