Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), often referred to as dyspraxia, can affect a child’s ability to plan, coordinate and carry out motor tasks. These challenges may impact handwriting, dressing, self-care, classroom participation, play, sports and overall confidence.
This session will explore:
• Early signs and developmental red flags
• Sensory integration, praxis and motor planning
• The role of the Evaluation in Ayres Sensory Integration® (EASI) in comprehensive assessment
• The impact of DCD on learning, independence and everyday participation
• Common co-occurring conditions, including ADHD, autism, learning differences and anxiety
• Evidence-informed occupational therapy approaches
• Practical recommendations for referral and interdisciplinary support
