In 2017, I served children whose lives were tangled in pain substance use, conflict with the law, undiagnosed mental illness, and emotional issues. As a clinical social worker, I planted seeds of hope through therapy, behavior modification, and love. Slowly, they learned to regulate emotions, rebuild trust, and rediscover childhood to play, laugh, and be loved again. We started with good food, teaching impulse control and emotional regulation one meal at a time. I may not always sit under the shade of the trees I plant, but every child deserves to be shown how to be a child. 🌱
