This past week, Dr. Alex joined Dr. David at Stingray Media to chat with Dane from Magic 91.5 FM about something we talk about often at Grand Harbor Medical: your standard cholesterol panel may not tell the whole story. ❤️
Today, we have more tools to better understand cardiovascular risk. Beyond a typical lipid panel, we can look at hereditary risk factors, markers of inflammation, and other information that can help us build a more complete picture of your heart health.
There’s another important update: cardiovascular risk calculators and guidelines have changed. That means it may be worth having your risk reassessed. Some people may now calculate at a lower risk than before, which could affect whether medication is recommended.
Baptist Health is currently offering calcium scoring for $99. If your score is zero, that information may support a conversation about whether a statin is necessary, depending on your overall risk and medical history. If the score is elevated, we can discuss what that means and your options for reducing cardiovascular risk.
Come see us at Grand Harbor Medical to have your cholesterol and cardiovascular risk reviewed with today’s updated tools and guidelines.
Your numbers are important—but they’re only part of the picture.
