EAR PIERCING from an ETHICAL dimension :
1) Ear piercing is a cultural and religious practice in places like India, Latin America, some countries in Africa... but NOT in countries like Lebanon.
2) Ear piercing is a NEVER NECESSARY procedure and has NO MEDICAL BENEFIT for the child.
3) Ear piercing is usually done to gratify the parents. Children in this sense are falling VICTIMS OF THEIR PARENTS' FASHION BELIEFS.
4) Ear piercing is an irreversible practice that DOES NOT RESPECT THE BODILY AUTONOMY of the child. Children's body is theirs and therefore their choice.
5) Who said that ear piercing will be in the child's best interest when he or she grows up ?????!!!!!!
This brings us to the conclusion that ear piercing in our culture is an ABUSIVE action that I do NOT RECOMMEND from an ethical standpoint.
