A cross-sectional survey of 359 practicing Lebanese nurses found that male nurses received more training in triage and isolation unit work, while females had more PPE-handling training. University hospitals provided significantly more structured education. Across hospital types, 50% of nurses attended no lectures and 66.3% had never undergone an N95 fit test. Gender, hospital type, and district each influenced nurses knowledge and practice.

This conceptual article proposes a framework extending the four bioethical principles (autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, distributive justice) to all stakeholders of simulation-based education (SBE): patients, educators, learners, and simulated participants. Drawing on the 2024 French National Healthcare Authority good-practice guide, it also examines specific ethical dilemmas unique to simulation, including simulated patient death, breaking bad news, research ethics, use of biological tissue, teaching bioethics through simulation, and the growing ethical concerns raised by virtual reality and artificial intelligence in SBE.

Anaphylactic shock following IOC is exceptionally rare, with only two prior cases documented. A 71-year-old with a known mild contrast allergy developed cardiovascular collapse and SVT within minutes of intra-biliary contrast administration. DIC followed on postoperative day 3, with D-dimer peaking at 8068 and platelet nadir of 28. ICG fluorescence cholangiography or MRCP should be considered as safer alternatives in contrast-allergic patients.

A global analysis of road traffic injuries from 2000 to 2019 revealed marked regional disparities: Africa recorded the highest RTI rate (27.6/100,000) and Europe the lowest (10.98/100,000). Western Pacific countries bore the greatest drink-driving burden (29.98% of RTIs), and Eastern Mediterranean the lowest (1.65%). Despite legal frameworks in nearly all countries, weak enforcement in low- and middle-income settings limits progress.

Training Technical Rescue Specialists demands a sound pedagogical framework. Grounded in Kolb's Experiential Learning Cycle and scaffolding theory, the approach deconstructs complex rescue procedures into discrete skills, progressively increasing fidelity and complexity. The Visually Enhanced Mental Rescue Simulation offers a low-cost modality for command and communication training. Debriefing and gradual withdrawal of support cultivate adaptive expertise.

This narrative review synthesises evidence on anticoagulation in CKD, dialysis, and kidney transplantation from PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane through July 2025, including major guidelines (KDIGO, AHA/ACC, ESC). Warfarin remains widely used but carries risks of bleeding and vascular calcification without consistent stroke reduction in dialysis patients. Among DOACs, apixaban has the most robust observational data and FDA approval for ESKD. Dabigatran is generally avoided due to renal accumulation. UFH is preferred in haemodialysis for its reversibility. Emerging options including factor XI inhibitors and left atrial appendage occlusion show promise. In emergency settings, correct identification of the anticoagulant and reversal agent is critical.

An observational study across two Lebanese EDs found anti-E IgG seroprevalence of 95.1% in 350 adults, consistent with near-universal natural exposure. mRNA vaccines, predominant in Lebanon, do not elicit anti-E antibodies, so vaccination status was not a predictor of seropositivity. Bayesian and Random Forest models identified advanced age as the strongest predictor of a negative IgG response, pointing to continued vulnerability in older cohorts.

A pre/post interventional study with 75 physicians and nurses across 12 teams at Al Wakra Hospital assessed a 2.5-3 hour interprofessional simulation programme following ALSG guidelines. Normalised mean leadership scores improved from 0.32 to 0.90, teamwork from 0.71 to 0.92, and communication from 0.20 to 0.88 (all p

A PRISMA-compliant meta-analysis of 21 studies found pooled sonographic sensitivity of 0.52 and specificity of 0.90 for distinguishing complicated from simple appendicitis in paediatric patients. A positive scan raises post-test probability from 25% to approximately 64%, supporting expedited management, but a negative result cannot exclude complication. Future work should standardise sonographic criteria to reduce the high heterogeneity observed.

A PRISMA 2020 review identified 14 studies on SBE for paramedics in paediatric care, appraised with Joanna Briggs Institute checklists and categorised by Kirkpatrick level. SBE positively influenced confidence and competence across knowledge and behavioural outcomes. Paramedics often reported discomfort with paediatric care and wished for more such training. No study addressed whether simulation translates to improved patient outcomes at Kirkpatrick level 4.
