On Wednesday September 9, 2026, Saint George University Medical Center marked the launch of the Life-Saving and Limb-Saving Program, implemented in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) and funded with the generous support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece.
The program was launched in the presence and with the blessings of His Eminence Metropolitan Elias Audi who graciously shared his guidance and direction regarding the project
The event was also honored by the presence of H.E. Ambassador Despina Koukoulopoulou, Ambassador of Greece to Lebanon; Dr. Ahmad Zouiten, WHO Representative in Lebanon; Judge Marwan Abboud, Governor of Beirut; members of the Board; and distinguished guests, and friends.
Over the coming months, the program will provide life- and limb-saving hospital care to vulnerable and uninsured patients, while supporting SGUMC with priority medical equipment to strengthen our neonatal, surgical, and emergency services.
شهد مستشفى القديس جاورجيوس الجامعي؛ يوم الأربعاء 9 أيلول 2026؛ إطلاق برنامج تغطية الحالات الطبية المنقذة للحياة والأطراف، الذي يتم تنفيذه بالشراكة مع منظمة الصحة العالمية، وبدعم سخي من وزارة الخارجية اليونانية.
وقد أُطلق البرنامج بحضور وبركة صاحب السيادة المتروبوليت الياس، الذي تفضّل بتقديم توجيهاته وإرشاداته بشأن المشروع.
كما شرّف حفل الإطلاق حضور سعادة سفيرة اليونان في لبنان السيدة ديسبينا كوكولوبولو؛ الدكتور أحمد زويتن، ممثل منظمة الصحة العالمية في لبنان؛ القاضي مروان عبود، محافظ بيروت؛ أعضاء مجلس الإدارة؛ وعدد من الشخصيات والضيوف والأصدقاء الكرام.
وعلى مدى الأشهر المقبلة، سيؤمّن البرنامج الرعاية الاستشفائية المنقذة للحياة والأطراف للمرضى الأكثر حاجة وغير المضمونين. كما سيدعم مستشفى القديس جاورجيوس الجامعي بتجهيزات طبية ذات أولوية، بما يسهم في تعزيز خدمات رعاية حديثي الولادة والجراحة والطوارئ.
