We don't talk enough about caregiver burden when it comes to serious and terminal illness.
We especially don't talk about the mental, emotional, and psychological toll it takes, the way it adds a whole new layer of weight to an already heavy season of life.
Some caregivers are looking after aging parents. Others are caring for a sick child. Some step into this role by choice, and others simply find themselves there, with no say in it at all. However it happens, it's a lot to carry.
The focus is almost always on the patient, and it should be. But somewhere along the way, we can't forget the people quietly holding everything together behind the scenes. You matter too, and your wellbeing isn't a side note.
If you're a caregiver, we see you. And we'd love to hear what's on your mind and share your questions about caregiving, how to prepare for what's ahead, or just what this season has been like for you.
