Saving lives beyond the hospital!

The Resus Club of Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences conducted a Basic Life Support training session with the guidance of the Department of Anaesthesiology, THA, for more than 30 bus drivers at the SLTB Bus Depot, Anuradhapura, on 09th June 2026.

Participants received hands-on training in CPR, BLS, log rolling, and choking management—equipping them with vital skills to respond confidently during emergencies.

Strengthening the frontline of emergency care.

A Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR training programme was conducted at Base Hospital Kakirawa, led by the Department of Anaesthesiology with the support of the FMAS RUSL Resus Club. The programme aimed to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of healthcare workers in recognizing and responding effectively to life-threatening emergencies.

Through interactive sessions and hands-on training, participants gained essential resuscitation skills that can make a critical difference during cardiac arrest and other medical emergencies.

More than 100 healthcare workers participated in the programme, reinforcing their preparedness to deliver timely and effective emergency care when it matters most.

Equipping everyday heroes to respond when it matters most.

As most cardiac arrests occur in public places, timely action by bystanders can be the difference between life and death. To improve community readiness, the FMAS RUSL Resus Club conducted a CPR workshop at SLTB Bus Depot - Anuradhapura on 2026/04/28, guided by the Department of Anaesthesiology, THA. Around 30 bus drivers were trained in essential life saving skills for emergencies.
