Conference on Mental Health in the Digital Era (Event 2)
The Sri Lanka Psychological Association (SLPA) successfully conducted the Conference on Mental Health in the Digital Era on 1st February 2026 at the SLIIT Main Auditorium, bringing together psychologists, academics, mental health professionals, and students for an engaging and forward-looking professional dialogue.
The conference facilitated a rich exchange of both global and local expertise, featuring esteemed delegates from the American Psychological Association (APA) and the British Psychological Society (BPS), alongside respected Sri Lankan professionals.
A key highlight of the event was the panel discussion on Technology, Ethics, and Human Connection, which encouraged critical reflection on the ethical responsibilities associated with integrating digital and AI-based tools into mental health care. Participant reflections consistently emphasized that while technology can enhance accessibility and innovation, the quality of human connection must remain central to psychological practice.
Participants described the conference as intellectually stimulating, timely, and highly relevant to contemporary mental health practice within an increasingly digitalized world.
The SLPA extends its sincere appreciation to all speakers, partner organizations, and participants for their valuable contributions and active engagement. This conference represents a significant step toward advancing ethical, compassionate, and responsible digital mental health practice, and SLPA looks forward to continuing these important conversations through future professional initiatives.
