Empowering Young Minds Through Awareness and Resilience

We are happy to share that SRILNAC President Clinical Psychologist, Carol Gooneratne Amarasekara and Executive member Dr Nilmi Kotuwella , recently conducted a meaningful outreach program for school children in Muttakkuliya.

This initiative focused on promoting mental well-being and raising critical awareness on addiction - an issue that significantly impacts the surrounding area. Through engaging discussions and practical guidance, students were equipped with healthier coping strategies and empowered with the knowledge to navigate and resist the social challenges prevalent in their environment.

At the heart of this program lies a commitment to fostering resilience, strengthening emotional intelligence, and guiding young individuals toward positive life choices. We believe that early intervention and education are key to shaping a healthier, more mindful future generation.

Understanding Dyslexia: Seeing Intelligence Differently

Dyslexia is more than just difficulty with reading or writing; it is a different way of processing language. This learning difference is commonly identified in school-going children, but it can also be present in adults, sometimes undiagnosed for years.

Dyslexia affects approximately 1 in 10 people worldwide.
It is not linked to intelligence — many individuals with dyslexia are highly creative, innovative, and excel in problem-solving.
Early identification and support can significantly improve confidence, academic success, and overall well-being.

Let’s change the narrative:
Dyslexia is not a limitation - it’s a different way of learning.
