Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip

Infants can have a variety of signs related to hip dysplasia. One common sign is the appearance of 1 leg being shorter than the other. This can cause an abnormal gait when the baby begins to walk. Likewise, the space between the infant’s legs can appear wider than normal. Also, the leg with the dislocated hip can turn outward, and the folds in the skin of the thighs or but-tocks can appear uneven.  Early detection and diagnosis will allow for simpler and much more effective treatment.
