TRAINING PROGRAMME ON BASIC WORKSHOP PRACTICE π§
Looking to gain hands-on experience with industrial machinery, equipment and basic workshop practices?
The Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Moratuwa, is offering a practical training programme designed to introduce participants to essential workshop operations used in the industrial sector.
π Course Objective
To provide participants with an introduction to industrial machinery and equipment, together with practical basic training in workshop practices.

* Students who have completed GCE O/L
* School leavers
* Anyone interested in gaining practical experience with industrial machinery and equipment
π Course Content

Safety in industrial/workshop environments
β
Machining operations and applications β cutting, drilling, shaping and lathe operations
β
Welding operations and applications
β
Metal forming operations and applications
β
Casting operations and applications
π§ Programme Format: Lectures + practical workshop training
π
Duration: 8 sessions Γ 3 hours each, conducted over 2 weeks
π Medium: Sinhala / English
π Venue: Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Moratuwa
π₯ Batch Size: 30 participants
π° Course Fee: LKR 30,000 per participant

Commencement: September 2026
