The medical world has lost a giant in surgical innovation and engineering. ACS Jacobson Award winner, Thomas Fogarty, MD, FACS, who invented the balloon catheter, revolutionized treatment of blood clots, and pioneered minimally invasive surgery, passed away on December 28 at 91 years old.
