We continue to mourn the passing of our colleague and friend, Dr. Mariama Yantu Symthe, who passed away on June 2, 2026, at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Symthe was a dedicated leader and servant of her peers. She served as a former President of Meraki (Class of 2024) and also as Welfare Chair of the Liberia Medical Studentsโ Association, roles through which she touched many lives with her commitment, compassion, and service.
Her funeral service is scheduled for the first Saturday in July 2026 (July 4, 2026), at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located on the Stella Maris Polytechnic Campus.
A candlelight vigil will be held on July 3, 2026, at the A. M. Dogliotti College of Medicine Sea View Campus. We encourage everyone to participate as we come together to celebrate her life, honor her contributions, and remember the impact she made on those around her. Commemorative T-shirts will be available for purchase in support of the vigil.
Additional details regarding the vigil and other arrangements will be shared as they become available.
Though we lost our friend far too soon, her legacy of leadership, kindness, and service will remain with us. May her soul rest in perfect peace. ๐๏ธ
