What does “vacation” really mean?
The word vacation comes from the Latin vacare, meaning to be empty, to create space.
I also love the word holiday.
Its origin reminds us that holidays were once holy days, days set apart, sacred days.
What if we embraced this time of year in that way?
Not as a race to do more, see more or plan more…
But as an invitation to slow down.
To breathe.
To listen.
To create space.
In truth, every moment of our lives is sacred.
Summer simply offers us a beautiful opportunity to remember it.
May we allow ourselves a little more space.
May we honour this time as something precious.
May we return not only feeling rested, but also more connected to what truly matters.
