The NutriHealth Group at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) is currently recruiting healthy volunteers for the CAROFIBER Study 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️

Carotenoids 🍊🥕 are natural compounds responsible for the bright colours of numerous fruits and vegetables. They are associated with several positive health effects, and we’re trying to learn more!

Who can participate? ✅

• Healthy Women and Men 👩👨
• Aged 20 – 50 years 📅
• Non-smokers 🚭

Your role: 👥
• Complete a 1-hour screening visit ⏱️
• Three full-day study visits over a 4-week period 📅 (all meals provided 🍽️🥗 on study days!)

Compensation: 💶 Receive 300 € in Belle Étoile coupons 🎁 for the time and effort dedicated to the study.

🌍 Great insights on the future of precision medicine!
The XPOSE Doctoral Training Unit (DTU), under the coordination of the Department of Precision Health at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), recently hosted world-renowned exposome pioneer Prof. Gary W. Miller (Columbia University).

In his lecture "Exposomics Crosses the Rubicon", Prof. Miller highlighted why capturing the exposome (the sum of our environmental exposures, diet, and lifestyle) is the vital missing piece to fully understanding human health and transforming healthcare systems. 🧬🔬

It was a fantastic opportunity for the local scientific community and XPOSE PhD students to exchange ideas with a leading expert.

🕷️ Bitten by a tick? You could become allergic to red meat

A recent RTL Today report highlights alpha-gal syndrome, a delayed allergy to red meat that can develop after a tick bite.

At the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), Dr Christiane Hilger and her team are conducting the ImmunoGal study to better understand why some people develop this allergy while others do not.

Alpha-gal syndrome can trigger symptoms several hours after eating mammalian meat such as beef, pork, venison or rabbit. These symptoms may include abdominal pain, nausea, itching, breathing difficulties and, in rare cases, severe allergic reactions.

👩‍🔬 To support this research, LIH is currently looking for adults who have recently been bitten by a tick.

To participate:
✔ You must be at least 18 years old
✔ You should contact LIH within 48 hours of detecting the tick bite
✔ Keep the tick and bring it to the consultation

Your participation can help researchers better understand the early immune response after tick bites and contribute to advances in allergy research.
