Never assume that a baby does not understand. Even at a young age, toddlers can grasp simple words, phrases, and routines, especially when supported by gestures and context. Using clear, simple language helps them build understanding and supports their early communication development.

At around 18 months, a toddler can understand simple phrases with familiar words, such as basic instructions and everyday routines. They often understand more than they can say and rely on context and gestures to make sense of language.

Early stimulation is important because the brain is highly receptive at this age. Regular interaction and language exposure support communication skills and help prevent or reduce potential delays.
