Some people think that domestic abuse stops after separation/divorce. It does not. The violence continues sometimes in other or worst forms than before. The flashbacks, nightmares, insults, calomny, financial witholding of what the court granted, threats of attacks in court to take back the children she tried to protect by seeking divorce, or to get a hold on the business she built on her own... All of this continue. Worst, 3/4 of women who die by femenicide by a former violent ex are killed in the first year following separation.

But the harassment can unfortunately go on for years... The violent person trying in every way he can think off to cut off her wings with which she took her freedom without his consent. He was so displeased with her while they are married, yet refused to grant her the divorce. And the ruling by the judges is not sufficient for him. He, has to be the one continuing to call the shots. And if he is prevented, that is why one day he may pull the trigger and shoot her one last time.

In the Muslim context, some men may withold from causing death, unwilling to go to hell due to her (of course in his mind only her is the evil witch who deserves to burn on hell), but nevertheless can try every course to make her life a living hell.

Women face many societal and systemic barriers to get the peace and freedom they deserve when they have a partner with violent tendencies. I think that it should be mandatory that every case of domestic violence should have a clause in the ruling to force men to at least 15 sessions of mandatory individual psychotherapy held by a qualified psychologist and an additional 5 sessions of group therapy held by a qualified psychologist or social worker.

My sister, you have been through a lot and you are much more than a survivor, you are a warrior for your own dignity, freedom and peace.

Today I took my staff from out for a team building activity doing quads in the suburbs of Fez. It was magnificent, the fields were covered in flowers and the guides from were kind and understanding.

It's important to plan such resourcing moments. Connecting to your teammates and to nature allows bonds to refresh and keep us going further with vitality. 💞✨️

Navigating relationships or being on a therapeutic journey is not always easy. There are a lot of unknowns and sometimes it can be scary.
One thing is for sure, is that you and your wellbeing matter. And you have inner and outer resources to find your path. The proof is that even if the road behind has been difficult, you made it until today.
So maintain the hope, and carve you way to become the person you want to be, and find the person with whom you want to be.

There are different things that can leave a negative trace in us to various degrees.
There are things that should not have happened, but did occur (emotional, physical or sexual abuse).
And there are things that should have happened, but did not (proper care and support).
Some things might have happened to you and others you witnessed or heard off.
Some things happened once and others occurred on several occasions.

No everything is not necessarily "traumatic". But an improper event lived with high emotional intensity and insufficient (developmental) skills to deal with, as a very high likelihood to create some dysfunctional thoughts or behaviours.

EMDR can help you sort through your things no matter how big or small they were, and gain more adaptative and positive self-views, attitudes and behaviours.

You deserve to be a better version of yourself, for you and your loved ones.

I'm a feminist. It's a question of striving for justice by defending equality between men and women, and between women.

I believe that every human being has equal value and equal rights. Feminism is what it stands for.

Patriarchy gives power to few, but is detrimental to most, including men.

Be the change you want to see in the world, said Gandhi.

Every therapy session in which my client goes from "I'm worthless" to "I'm worthy" or "I'm powerless" to "I can defend myself" is one way I contribute to the self-esteem and empowerment of that person. And when people are more confident in their value and their capacity, they are more likely to treat themselves and others appropriately.

Know your rights, take action, defend justice.

And this is why as soon as you feel depressed you should contact a psychologist. Don't wait 4 weeks for your meds to be effective, work on your thoughts and feelings right from the start in therapy.

Even better, get in therapy to work on your trauma before even getting depressed.

I attended the Art of EMDR seminar in France, based in a very nice castle in Candé-sur-Beuvron.

I met with wonderful people who were all open, warm, non-judgemental, and welcoming. I will carry them in my heart forever. 😍

It was directed by Dr. Roger Solomon, whom I admire for his work with EMDR therapists around the globe, by developing more attunement with their clients and their inner parts.

The event was facilitated by Sophie Obin, Marie-France Gizard, and translated by Viviane Akoka. Three great psychologists and people who have a lot to share.

We were 16 attendees, all advanced in our practice and psychotherapeutic journey. All willing to work on themselves and help their partner in the practicum.

Although I often attend trainings and I regularly see a therapist, this seminar helped me grow in ways that I am not yet all grasping.

I did one of the demo with Roger, in which he was the therapist and I was the client. It was real and really deep work for about 90min, with everyone watching. It may seem intimidating, but the group vibe added a component of being seen AND accepted in a vulnerable state, which allowed for healing in ways that I did not expect, furthermore that my session ended in a magnificent group hug where I was at the center of everyone's embrace.

Back at work now, I have noticed how much more attuned I am to my clients' inner parts. It's hard to explained why; it's not only technique as I've been doing parts work for 2-3 years. I think something both deeper and greater than me happened during all of that week's intensive seminar.

What I know for sure, is that I'll be eternally grateful for having taken this wonderful opportunity, grateful for all the people I interacted with during this seminar, grateful for me and my parts with whom I'm much more aligned, and grateful for all my clients and their inner system, for the trust they have in me and the motivation they inspire me to keep on improving myself both on a personal and professional level.
