Sometimes breathing problems can develop hours after a near-drowning event. Recognising these signs early is important:

• Persistent coughing
• Difficulty breathing or unusually rapid breathing.
• Extreme tiredness, drowsiness or unusual sleepiness.
• Chest pain or discomfort.
• Persistent Vomiting
• Changes in behaviour, such as confusion or irritability.

If a child develops these symptoms after a near-drowning event, seek medical attention immediately or call 1400 if unsure.

CI SONO BATTERI CAPACI DI DIGERIRE PURE LA PLASTICA?

Giunge a visita una paziente.
Il collegamento viene fatto online.
Leggendo tra le righe dell'email, un nome curioso viene fuori: PSEUDOMONAS PUTIDA.
La signora riferisce che sia stata rilevata tramite tampone alla gola e che il trattamento è stato fatto con il solito antibiotico (il nome non importa).
Al controllo successivo, il tampone è negativo. E Amen.
Ma il nome è rimasto nella mia mente e mi ha spinto a cercarlo in rete.
Al di là della somiglianza genetica con il più famoso "cugino" - lo aeruginosa - in certi tratti più "antibiotico-resistente" (LINK zero)
Anche se perisce grazie al miele di .
Ma ciò che ha attirato la mia attenzione è che è un batterio in grado di metabolizzare solventi organici.
In pratica è ghiotto di polistirolo (in effetti lo stirene) e LO SCIOGLIE.
Ma fa lo stesso anche per il (polietilene tereftalato, cioè LE BOTTIGLIE DI PLASTICA).
Benché gli studi siano ancora agli inizi (link 1) la speranza è di poter impiegare questa specie nel riciclaggio del polistirolo.
Di fronte all’enorme problema dei rifiuti plastici indifferenziati dispersi nell’ambiente, l’idea di poterli convertire in materiale biodegradabile tramite l’utilizzo di batteri è una grande opportunità.
I materiali ottenuti sono dei più svariati: acidi organici, Pha, composti aromatici e glicolipidi (LINK 3)
Pseudomonas putida, malgrado il nome, può abbattere l’inquinamento.
Possiede, inoltre, un sistema di "esporto" dell'acido fusarico (una tossina fungina prodotta da un fitopatogeno) che lo rende interessante per il suo utilizzo come biocontrollore dei funghi patogeni nelle piante!
Infatti, questo batterio colonizza le radici delle piante e ne stimola la crescita inibendo la crescita di patogeni.
Cara amica, caro amico che leggi questa pagina, più studio (mi faccio trasportare dalla curiosità, da buon Vergine!) più mi rendo conto che il mondo è un posto meraviglioso ed affascinante da quando studio il .
E più lo studio più mi rendo conto che è triste ridurre tutto alla somministrazione di antibiotico su antibiotico.
E poi vedere CISTITI RICORRENTI da batteri antibiotico-resistenti e sindromi dell'intestino irritabile post-antibiotiche.
Come cambierebbe la tua vita Se solo sapessi che ci sono batteri che si mangiano sia il glutine che il lattosio ..... e che li perdiamo con la prima penicillina?
Mi riprometto di studiare e portarti altre notizie come questa.

That 3PM Slump: Is It Really Low Blood Sugar? 🕒💤

You know the feeling. It’s 15:00, your focus disappears, your head feels heavy, and all you want is something sweet.
But here’s the plot twist: it’s not always a blood sugar crash.

Most of the time, that afternoon slump comes from a mix of things:

Your natural circadian rhythm dip between 13:00-16:00
Stress + mental fatigue, not real hunger
Poor sleep or not enough light during the day
Skipping proper breaks

How to tell hunger vs. nervous fatigue:
Real hunger = empty stomach, energy drops gradually, food fixes it
Nervous fatigue = “heavy head”, can’t focus, food helps for 10 min then you’re back to square one

Try this instead of reaching for sugar:

5 min of sunlight or step outside
Drink a glass of water – dehydration mimics fatigue
2-min stretch or walk to reset your brain
