The Shadow is the repressed, unconscious part of the personality containing traits, desires, and instincts that a person rejects or hides. While often associated with negative or "dark" impulses, it also houses positive attributes like creativity and assertiveness. Ignoring it causes self-sabotage. Carl Jung believed in confrontating the shadows rather than destroying it.
Unacknowledged shadow traits are often projected onto others, causing us to judge or hate in them what we refuse to see in ourselves.

Negative emotions, such as sadness and anger, trigger the release of stress hormones like cortisol, which can suppress immune function. Elevated cortisol levels are known to increase inflammation and weaken the body's immune response.
Anxious thoughts can diminish your immune response within just 30 minutes, and persistent stress can damage your body's natural defense system, making you more susceptible to illness.

We hear things like ‘man up’, ‘crybaby’ or ‘boys don’t cry’. The reality is that these phrases are harmful and have created a longstanding societal expectation: that masculinity must be synonymous with emotional repression.
We see this throughout our tear — they just carry on as if nothing happened. On social media, some male influencers promote the idea that masculinity means being emotionally stoic.
Yet, throughout our lives, men face a wide range of challenges: work stress, relationship issues, financial worries, grief and loss, anger and frustration, health problems, isolation, substance misuse, gambling issues, and so much more. These struggles inevitably impact our mental health. Unfortunately, because of the stigma surrounding emotional expression, men are less likely to access psychological therapies than women.

What you think, you become.
What you feel, you attract.
What you imagine, you create.
Buddha

Make your life an affirmation, defined by your ideals, not the negation of others. Dare to the level of your capability then go beyond to a higher level!!

Stigmas against those struggling with addiction have come a long way. There are still lots of prominent misconceptions surrounding them and these common misconceptions and stigmas bring intense feelings of guilt, shame and distress to individuals already fighting against addiction.
Social support has a more significant impact on the choices that we make in our lives.
If a person has limited social support or their social support influences their drug use, they are less likely to enter treatment or experience positive treatment outcomes & maintain sobriety later on.

"Social media has become the crack co***ne of the digital world"- Simon Mainwaring

Internet addiction is very common nowadays. We spend hours & hours scrolling on social media without realizing to what extent we have been unproductive or procrastinating over things that are of our upmost priority.
The brain is stuck in a habit circle for approval by others through likes, number of followers that we don't even realize how much lonely, depressed or anxious we have become within.

If you're interested in neuroscience I strongly recommend you to read "The Shallows" by Nicolas Carr, what the internet is really doing to our brain 🧠
