Standing in front of the beautiful Minissy Waterfall, I’m reminded that the word “cataract” comes from the Greek kataraktēs, meaning “waterfall.” Beautiful in nature, but dangerous when it clouds the natural lens of our eyes.

Retinal Tears & Retinal Detachment

Vigorous head movements and high-impact extreme sports may cause the vitreous gel to pull on the retina especially in people already at risk. This can produce a retinal tear, which may progress to retinal detachment and permanent vision loss.
