LUVESA Attends Animal Welfare and One Health Public Lecture
On 7th July 2026, members of the LUANAR Veterinary Students Association (LUVESA) attended an engaging Animal Welfare and One Health Public Lecture organized by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and facilitated by Brooke.
The session was led by James Kathuki and Raphael from Brooke.
James explored the evolution of animal welfare science, emphasizing the importance of integrating animal, human, and environmental health through the One Health approach. He highlighted how animal welfare contributes to disease prevention, food security, climate resilience, and sustainable development, while encouraging students to start where they are, remain true to their profession, and uphold high standards of veterinary service after graduation.
Raphael shared valuable insights on career opportunities within the veterinary industry, encouraging students to ask more questions, explore emerging opportunities instead of following unsuccessful paths, cultivate a culture of saving, and continuously develop additional skills that enhance their professional growth.
The lecture was both informative and inspiring, equipping students with knowledge that will shape their future careers and strengthen their understanding of the vital role veterinarians play in advancing One Health.
