The Malawi Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists (MAMLS) was founded on 11th February 1998.The Association was formed to promote and safeguard the interests of medical laboratory science professionals and patients in the country. The Association is non-profit making and is not influenced by political, religious, ethnic or sub-regional considerations. Medical Laboratory Scientists in Malawi are committed to co-operation amongst themselves to ensure quality medical laboratory services, the standardization of professional practice and capacity development. MAMLS was formed to help forge these professional links and improve standards of practice, training and education.

Day 2 of Innovation Week 2026 put Diagnostics at the heart of the conversations, showcasing bold ideas, inspiring solutions and the power of collaboration to tackle real world health challenges.

The Malawi Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists was proud to partner and co organise this exciting day, bringing together innovators, researchers, laboratory professionals, students and partners to connect, exchange ideas and explore new possibilities for the future of diagnostics in Malawi.

From ideas to conversations, and from conversations to possibilities, Day 2 was all about turning innovations into impact.

MLW INNOVATION WEEK

The future of healthcare is driven by innovation, and medical laboratory professionals are at the heart of that transformation.

Malawi Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists is proud to support the 2026 Innovation Week, hosted by the Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Programme Innovation Hub, under the theme:
“Beyond Discovery: Creating a Future of Health Innovations.”

A special highlight for our members is Day 2, themed Diagnostics, which will feature a workshop and a series of talks focused on diagnostics. The session will bring together experts, researchers, students, and innovators to explore emerging trends, discuss current challenges, and identify opportunities for advancing diagnostic science and healthcare delivery.

The day will also feature a Pitching Competition for diagnostic innovations, providing a platform for participants to showcase innovative ideas and compete for funding, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

We encourage our members to participate in this unique opportunity to showcase innovative diagnostic solutions, connect with experts, access mentorship opportunities, and contribute to strengthening healthcare in Malawi.
