Ndimoyo Palliative Care Trust has officially launched the 9th Palliative Care initiators course, welcoming 35 dedicated health professionals from health facilities across Malawi, including one participant from Zambia.
For the next five weeks, these professionals will be immersed in intensive training on holistic palliative care learning, not only the science of caring but also the art of bringing comfort, dignity and hope to people living with life-limiting illnesses.
The official opening ceremony was graced by the Director of health and Sanitation for Salima District, Dr Eugene Katenga Kaunda, who represented the District Commissioner.
He applauded Ndimoyo Palliative Care Trust for it's unwavering commitment to mentoring healthcare workers and strengthening palliative care services in Malawi. He acknowledged that investing in healthcare professionals today means improving the quality of care for countless patients and families tomorrow.
In his inspiring keynote address, Dr Eddie Mwabesa, international Programmes Director of Hospice Africa Uganda, challenged participants to approach the course with passion and commitment and a genuine desire to serve. He reminded them that palliative care goes beyond treating diseases but it is about restoring dignity, relief suffering and walking alongside patients and their loved ones during some of life's most difficult moments.
The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including the executive director of PACAM, representative from NGORA, members from Salima Civil Society Network, Valued partners who continue to support the advancement of palliative care.
As Ndimoyo is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of its founding, we believe that everyone deserves to live with dignity, comfort and compassion regardless of their illness
