A 2025 study published in AJOG adds powerful, up-to-date data showing associations between doula care and improved maternal and newborn outcomes.

Key Maternal Outcomes:

More vaginal births after cesarean (VBAC): For every 100 patients who received doula care, there were 15 to 34 additional VBACs compared with those without doula care.

Higher postpartum follow-up attendance: 5 to 6 more per 100 received postpartum office visits.

Key Neonatal / Infant Outcomes

Increased exclusive breastfeeding rates: Babies whose families had doula support were more likely to breastfeed exclusively.

Fewer preterm births (and early preterm births): Doula-supported births showed a reduction in preterm birth rates.

In short, the study links doula care with improvements in birth outcomes — across birth mode (more VBACs), infant health (less prematurity), and early infant care (breastfeeding, postpartum follow-up).

La Leche League International (LLLI) joins the global call for the United Nations University – Institute for Water, Environment and Health (UNU-IWEH) to end its collaboration with Nestlé, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of ultra-processed foods. Nestlé’s egregious unethical marketing activities of infant formula triggered the World Health Assembly to establish the International Code of Marketing of Breast-Milk Substitutes in 1981, which is known as the International Code. We urge the UNU-IWEH not to collaborate with any corporation that fails to uphold the World Health Assembly’s International Code.

Plantar fasciitis (PF) is a chronic degenerative condition causing marked thickening and fibrosis of the plantar fascia, and collagen necrosis, chondroid metaplasia and calcification.

A recent double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial examined the efficacy of individualized homeopathic medicines (IHMs) compared with placebo in the treatment of PF.

The results:
The target sample size was 128; however, only 75 could be enrolled (IHMs: 37; Placebo: 38). Attrition rate was 9.3% (IHMs: 4, Placebo: 3). Differences between groups in total FFI% score favored IHMs against placebo at all the time points, with large effect sizes: month 1 (mean difference, -10.0; 95% confidence interval [CI], -15.7 to -4.2; p = 0.001; d = 0.8); month 2 (mean difference, -14.3; 95% CI, -20.4 to -8.2; p

A double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled trial involving 140 children with nocturnal enuresis found that individualised homeopathic treatment significantly reduced the frequency of bedwetting over three months compared with placebo, while both groups received standard supportive care.

The findings suggest that individualised homeopathic medicines offer a beneficial and safe complementary option for managing childhood bedwetting, though further independent studies are needed to confirm the results.
