SELF-CARE & SHOWING UP: Women’s History Month is ending, but the work… the becoming… the remembering… continues.

I’ve learned that impact isn’t only in the rooms we lead, the titles we hold, or the people we pour into.

It’s also in the intentional moments where we choose ourselves. AND the moments we decide to experience joy, fully, unapologetically, and without delay.

Because for so long, many of us have been taught to earn rest, to delay joy, to keep pushing.

But what if the real power is in allowing ourselves to feel life while we’re building it?

This month reminded me:
✨ Showing up for myself is not separate from my purpose. It is the work.
✨ Joy is not a reward. It’s a practice.
✨ Pausing is not falling behind. It’s how we sustain the journey.

To every woman carrying, leading, building, healing…
May we stop waiting.
May we take the moment.
May we honor the life we are living right now.

SELF-CARE & ACTION: I had the privilege of visiting the State Capitol on to voice the need for legislative change. I joined women from across the state, and the Ms. Corporate America, Georgia organization, which is committed to making global impact and serving women’s needs.

2025 was a time of quiet healing and reflection. 2026 will be about moving in the direction that my spirit leads, in places where my heart expands, and with community that challenges me to grow. I’m calling this season JOY in ACTION ✨.

SELF-CARE & TIME MANAGEMENT: A beautiful friend told me today that she admires my way of moving through life at my own pace. What a freeing affirmation to hear, BUT a part of me has always felt guilty to for being “too slow”, “too sensitive”, and just “too much”.

With gratitude and a new perspective, I’m slowly realizing that my ability to be on time and in flow is more about how much energy and attention I give to my priorities than it is about speeding up.

So, at a time when it may seem that I should be speeding towards my goals (I’m 41 and time is running out, right) instead, I’m slowing down to get clear about building capacity, shifting limiting beliefs, and releasing counter productive habits.

and the Power Broker Academy team, thank you for giving me the tools and the community of people to live exponentially on my own terms and with such peace.

I can’t wait to see how I transform in these next 6 months.

SELF-CARE & STARTING AGAIN: Grief can be a tricky and shifting emotion. There are days when you feel like the cloud has lifted and it’s replaced with happy memories and hope for the future. Then BAM 💥 out of nowhere a song, a picture, or even a smell take you back to a place of sadness.

You know what? That’s ok, because each day we can start again with possibility of peace and joy. We can rest in the knowledge that healing isn’t linear. The process is unfolding, and there will be days when looking ahead feels less painful, days when you feel like the healthiest version of yourself. This is especially poignant as we acknowledge .

SELF-CARE & FRIENDSHIP: Hyla Monét Penn, you are the epitome of a great woman, a great leader and business woman, a great wife, but most importantly for me you’ve been my greatest friend.

There really aren’t enough ways to thank you for how you’ve had my back, especially this year. At every turn in life, God has allowed us to journey together, and now we’re 40 years young (we’re just getting started 😊).

In this 40th trip around the sun, I pray you know how gifted you are and that your wildest dreams are coming true. I pray you continue to live with joy that lights up every room.

SELF-CARE & LOVE: My Daddy, my name sake (Big Ray), and my North Star passed away on March 2.

The sadness comes in waves… I’m letting it come.

I’m not quite sure how long this will last… That’s ok.

There’s joy here too… He’s not hurting anymore.

God’s love is keeping me… Moment by moment.

So glad for the love of friends and family… You are angels.

Daddy, I’ll always LOVE you ♥️.

SELF-CARE & RHYTHM: I’ve been in a space of deep and quiet reflection. Birthdays usually do that for me (thank you for all of beautiful wishes 😌). I find myself looking back and seeing how far I’ve come (Do you have a similar experience?)

Hindsight reveals a mixture of pleasure, growth, pain, and purpose.

More than other times in life, I’ve let myself experience and feel. I’ve tried new things, ie, The Freedom Collective and Movement Makers ( 💜). I’ve been promoted and I’ve seen success, BUT I’ve also “failed” and disappointed myself and others.

In seasons of old I would have focused on the failures and disappointments rather than the ENTIRE picture. The lesson in this season has been to focus on finding my RHYTHM, my ebb and flow. Just as the seasons change, so does our pace and our rate of “success”. I’m learning to love the ebb and flow, to let go of need for things to ALWAYS be same.

I’ll be joining my Sisters In Self-Care Shamyra Parker and Naheemah McCallop on September 14th (TONIGHT) at 6PM PST/8PM CST/9PM EST for a talk about mental well-being and self-care for women in leadership.

We will be discussing the importance of RHYTHM and How to Nourish the Well-being of Women Executives and Leaders Mid-Pandemic.

SELF-CARE & SUNDAY: I can’t tell you how many times I’ve told myself, “You can do this! You can share your clinical gifts of healing and encouragement with more people!”, all while my INNER CRITIC convinced me that I wasn’t ready.

Not being ready is the lie we tell ourselves when we think we’re not good enough...

Ya’ll, I’m sick of it. Not today(!) I’m taking a step. I’ve learned that if I take one day at a time, one hard thing at a time, I’m strong enough, confident enough, “ready” enough.

Having someone to journey with me who is as dope and gifted is the blessing I didn’t know I needed.
